    It's been 48 hours and no airlock activity.....

    Is it really ideal? Everything I read says it doesn't matter how long as long as it ferments... Just be patient...I had no airlock activity in an APA I am now cold crashing and hit my FG....AND the warm, flat beer tasted awesome

    Worried...

    I was thinking the same thing unless you're topping off after a partial boil...I was going to transfer my APA into secondary but my brew buddy who has brewed for a long time said don't bother...just a thought for next time!

    It's an upgrade for me as I don't have the issues you have...I would rather see the beer then have it in a bucket...yes storage is easier but I have the space...not getting rid of my buckets though!!!

    Welcome! I got the $99 brew kit with the 5 gal glass carbon and love it but I as you'll see on here, secondary isn't always needed. Good luck with whatever you buy!!

    Same problem here...no airlock activity but can smell the hops if I get close enough...needless to say I upgraded to a 6 gallon better bottle...

    Congrats!! I bought an 8 gal SS kettle on eBay and it wasn't expensive at all...I brewed by 1st 5 gal batch and it was awesome

    2011 Brewing Goals

    WOW - glad I found this site! My goals are to get better at brewing starting with my first batch I bottled last night. Next beer is a watermelon beer - If I can figure out how to do it! Great job to all on your goals...

    I bottled my first batch last night! A lager that came with my set - I am already itching to buy new equipment...cant wait to taste the final product in 3 weeks to the day!!!

    I just bottled my first batch! Had a minor error where I dropped a uncapped bottle into a box of full bottles and lost a beer or 2. No big deal - had to clean up a HUGE mess though...3 weeks till I try my 1st beer (of my own making of course).
