Half Acre Beer Company: Daisy Cutter Pale Ale

Hell yea I live right near Half Acre, I used to go there all the time. Since I've started home brewing I've been going there less and less. Daisy Cutter is usually what I'll order at a bar if they have it. Has anyone tried the double daisy cutter? I've been meaning to check that out if they...

First Time Recipe Formulation - Need Help!

Hey All, I purchased a couple kits from Northern Brewer, including the Smashing Pumpkin Ale. After drinking more pumpkin ale, I really realized I'm not a fan and want to use the ingredients in the kit (with some additions) to make something different. This is only my third brew so I don't know...

    "Venting" bottles?

So Newton, any luck? I'm in the same boat (primed for 5 gallons, but only bottled 4). I plan on venting them at least once 2 weeks after the bottling date. How did your beer turn out? At what point since bottling did you vent them?

    No taste

    No taste

So what is the temperature you try to maintain during bottle conditioning? I'm asking for myself because I'm seeing the same thing w/ my beer, its been 3 weeks at about 67°F, and it still tastes very green.

    Refrigeration Before Drinking: Always Necessary?

Right I was definitely thinking that the biggest benefit to letting it chill for a while is to settle out all the yeast. I'll let it sit in the fridge for a couple days and see if the flavor improves. Thanks for all the help!

    Refrigeration Before Drinking: Always Necessary?

Its definitely carbonated and drinkable, but still has a little sharp (overly bitter?) flavor that I REALLY noticed after 2 weeks, and has since mellowed out, but not completely yet. It was only in primary for 1.5 weeks though (my first brew, I realize this was quick, hence the longer bottle...

    Refrigeration Before Drinking: Always Necessary?

My very first batch (an English Brown) is currently bottle conditioning (it's been 4 weeks now). It still tastes a little green so I'm giving it more time. However, my question is how necessary is refrigeration before drinking? Does this affect the taste of the beer, or is it for clarity and...

Estimated and actual OG differ a lot

I'm in the same boat, and haven't mixed after adding water to the bucket, but then taking a gravity reading. My logic though is that if you add the wort, then the water, your gravity reading would be lower (since the water is on top). However, your reading is unnaturally high. How does that...
