What Did You Get For Christmas?

Ugh...seems ridiculous to charge for a single-platform version. Been debating whether its worth risking dropping my iPad while brewing over having BA available on it.

    Late Christmas present SCOOOOOORE

Yep-that's what has me interested at this point: whether or not a somewhat lower ABV barleywine with a standard metal cap can stand up to a higher ABV that was corked. 1 of each currently chilling, planning on Saturday night for la degustación final!

    Late Christmas present SCOOOOOORE

Interestingly enough, I got the attention of the SA Facebook moderators asking for tasting notes. I also just re-read that flyer & noticed that it was cork-preserved... :/

    Late Christmas present SCOOOOOORE

Wondering if the Crusty has held up over time. It was found in a fairly stable cellar, around 60F year-round, so I'll possibly try it out this weekend. The Sam Adams probably fared better considering that whopping 17.5% ABV... And here's a scan of the article:

    Late Christmas present SCOOOOOORE

Had to brag about this one: so my dad & step-mom moved into a new house about a year ago. Apparently, along with a few bottles of extremely well-aged wines, they found these bad boys and gifted them to me today! 1993 Rogue-XS Old Crustacean Barleywine (2 bottles) 1994 Sam Adams Triple Bock (3...

    FYI... DON'T Drink and Brew

The only 2 times I've brewed sober, I have: -Accidentally disconnected my transfer tube in the middle of transferring a Belgian Saison to secondary -Broke my thermometer (with the little black pellet thingies) into my entire batch of cooling imperial stout Consuming beer + brewing more beer =...

    another NoOb keg question

MFL: Barb: It's mostly a preference thing. I've found that MFL's are a pain to disconnect if your keg system (for me, kegerator) is cramped for space and you have to swivel the entire line in order to disconnect it. For me, it's just easier to use barb fittings with screw clamps & call it good.

    thinking about kegging...

For your question about cold kegging, you're right that cold brew absorbs CO2 faster than room temp. As long as you keep it under pressure, the likelihood of something nasty getting into your beer is fairly slim (unless you're a complete slob and don't clean/sanitize your beer lines between...
