    First Mash Tun Batch

Did you sparge (i.e., rinse)? Because you don't appear to have enough space in the MLT for a no-sparge mash on a 5 gal recipe, especially with that size grain bill, I suspect you should sparge with your setup. Typical steps on a MLT with a batch sparge: Mash Vourlaf (recirculate a pitcher or...

    Carbonation temperature

You will be fine at 78*. I brew in the Phoenix summer, and with the a/c on, the spare beerroom stays between 80-82* and my beers stored therein have been fine, even the batch I waited 2 years to mellow out.

Squeezed my grains after batch sparge, now what?

Good call. I don't have a pressure cooker, so I'm just going to boil and freeze; then boil and cool when it's time to make the starter. I'll leave the canning to the experts.

Squeezed my grains after batch sparge, now what?

Perfect! I've always wanted to use liquid yeast, WLP300 on a hef. Thanks!

Stone Brewing sues MillerCoors for Trademark Infringement

That's why my post included the following sentence prefacing the jury instructions: "This results in a multi-factor (coincidentally, 9 in the Ninth Circuit) test according to the jury instruction on the court's website:"

Stone Brewing sues MillerCoors for Trademark Infringement

Some housekeeping: The song, "Happy Birthday" involved a copyright, not a trademark. The McDonald's coffee case was not about her spilling coffee on herself, but rather the coffee being 50* F hotter (190* v. 140*) than industry/reasonable standard. It was a defective product, she ordered...

    Mash Tun Drip

Dang, that's a lot of hardware. I just shoved a hose through the existing drain assembly, slapped on a 3/8 nylon valve from Midwest and called it a day. No runs, no drips, no errors. :rockin:

    No sanitizing cold brewed coffee???

I do boil the water first. Four days before bottling, I boil with it the mason jar and lid in my brew kettle. Put the boiled water in the mason jar, tighten the sanitized lid, and put it in the frig. After a couple of days I add the coffee, stir with a sanitized spoon and reseal the lid. On...

Oops! High OG 1.072 on Oatmeal Stout.

Following up, the taste is fantastic, but it is a bit strong in the alcohol department. Doesn't taste like it, though. As long as we pace ourselves and not overdo it, we will be fine. Went really well with corned beef and cabbage, although it's obviously much sweeter than an Irish stout...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

1/5 of 3/4 cup. That's 3/20th of a cup. We funneled 1/2 cup into hydrometer tube, measured how high in cm that was, and did the math to figure how many cm to get 3/20th of a cup. Or if you have a scale, use an online calculator and do it more accurately.

    Hose management

So after we clean the hoses, what's the best way to get them to dry. No matter how I try to hang them or find any kind of support, there always seems to be one spot with water in it. So my question is this: after cleaning the hoses, what's the best practice to get them completely dry on the...

    Show Us Your Label

This is for my son Cheyne's wedding to Sandy. We call them Chandy pronounced (Shandy). The beer is a Hef though. Go figure. Wedding is Friday 2-20-15 and we will serve this at the reception.

There's also this: https://www.thebeerbug.com/ But a quick check onto their forum and reading about bugs, fixes, workarounds, etcetera, in addition to the comments gives me pause. Also, with beer, sometimes ignorance is bliss. These appear to be the technological opposite of RDWHAHB. Now...
