    beer = water based with carbonation Soda = same. CO2 volumes are similar beer in soda bottle, why not.

    depends on the flippie. From exploding experience: Grolsch ½L no, Altenmunster ½L no, Altenmunster 1L no, Kulmbuster(?) ½L yes. Gosh I do love the control of kegging!!

    Good seal, purged well in the first place, can last respectibly for... years. The longest I've seen is about 4.

    I usually bottle 4 pints of each batch for traveling with. This leaves 4½ gallons in each keg. I purge 4 times and all is well.

    If they were swapped, CO2 would be going in the bottom, bubbling up thru and coming out the the top. There would be flow of foamy CO2. Dudes got no flow, either direction..... So far: -tube is cleaned -check valve is suspect :tank:

    Purging the air out of hte headspace is quite important I think. I don't see how this ingenuitive(sp) approach would accomplish that. :mug: Eisendrath

    I'm thinkin check valve in the beer out may have some blockage. remove it, clean it reassemble, check it for freedom of movement, add a couple of psi and push it in with a ballpoint to see if it flows,

    The ½ full keg would have had more contact surface area and less distance to diffuse through to get to the botton of the keg. It should have carbed first,,,, if the headspace contained as high percent CO2 as the full keg. My guess is that it did not, and possibly by far. I think in these...
