Can I rack from a growler into smaller bottles?

we all learn about things at some point. this was that point for you. on the mechanics of carb tabs, we're now even. we wouldn't be even, if you didn't ask. & now, I need to go ask a question about keggerator beer hoses.

Can I rack from a growler into smaller bottles?

carb (carbohydrate) tabs = sugar. yeast digests sugar and makes alcohol & CO2 without yeast, carb tabs just make beer sweeter.

Can I rack from a growler into smaller bottles?

at 10% it probally has no active yeast. being a commercial product, ditto.

Can I rack from a growler into smaller bottles?

use 16 or 20oz soda bottles with tire valve tops. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/homemade-carbonator-cap-124602/ purge and carbonate to ~10psi. cold definatyely helps.

    So i had this idea

In order for the beer to be not flat the CO2 has to stay in the beer. If there is no back pressure it will leave the beer and go into the space above it. If the space above it is not rigid it will expand and not create back pressure. lack of back pressure will let more leave the beer, then...

How do you "tag" or label your kegs?

    So i had this idea

The keep the oxygen out is a good idea, but you need a rigid container and/or pressure in order to carbonate to any level at all. A self collapsing container with no makeup pressure will allow the beer to loose all it's carbonation over time. If you want a quick test, get a 2 litre bottle of...

    DIY Beer Line Cleaner

Assembled & used mine this week. Two words: absolutely awesome. I too had leaks all over the place with normal amounts of thread tape. Disassembled in put in 2X, still leaked quite a bit. Disassembled in put in 3X, (you've got to love thread tape). This thing is awesome. Actually...

How long will beer keep in keeged?

I get 3 months to 3 years with no issues. Sanitization, cool temps, & CO2 are the key. Once had some at a buddies that was at the 4½ year mark, twas good!

    CO2 & Temps below 40°F

The CO2 line pressure gage has held steady, so I'd rule out the regulator. I'm wondering if it is a phenominon of water below 40°. The specific gragity of water increases as water goes from room temp down to 40°F, then it decreases from 40° to 32° and then we all know what happens at 32°. The...

    CO2 & Temps below 40°F

My kegerator resides in the unheated breezeway between the house & Garrage. This week it is seeing temps in the 20's. The digital controller says it's 34°F in there. With the CO2 pressure unchanged, I notice that the beer coming out seems to be lower in carbonation when the temp goes below 35...

Measuring beer left in a keg

OK, who stole .3 gallons from my keg.............. I always bottle two or four pints from every batch. That explains it. What really matters in this thread is when it's getting near empty. :tank:

Measuring beer left in a keg

This $9 idea arrived in 3 days works pretty sweet. Samsonite Luggage scale. Empty keg = 7 lbs. Full 5 gal keg = 46 pounds. Do the math if you want to mark off individual gallon increments Tried it and it works great. They've got more, lots more. Shipment came...

How much left in the keg?

Looking down from the top of my chest freezer kegger I can't see the side so the smart strip won't work. Engineering ideas aside, this works pretty sweet. Samsonite Luggage scale. Empty keg = 7 lbs. Full 5 gal cornie keg = 46 pounds. Do the math if you want to mark off...

    Heating element for fermentation chamber

I built a masonite top for a our extra shower, making it a 4' x 4' x 6' enclosure with a glass door. I hung a house-thermostat in the front, wired it to an outlet mounted to the top and plugged in a heating pad (the kind for your back) that hangs in the middle. looks kinda rube-goldberg and...
