Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

Weirdboy, those are words of wisdom. I took another reading and it read 1.040. So, I'm just going to relax, wait for it to stop fermenting, bottle it and drink the dayum thing! Will let everyone know how it turns out. Best, K

    just getting started! Respond PLz

That's a tough question. There are plenty of threads on here that mention different websites to purchase from. This isn't very difficult. What I suggest doing is doing a google search to find the nearest home brewing supply shop in your area, introduce yourself and buy a kit from there...

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

I wonder if I should do another reading. I put my ear up to the carboy and it sound like a machine!

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

I did top off. I had about 2 gallons of wort. I cooled it to around 100F.

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

Also it needed a blowoff tube. It is bubbling pretty rapidly.

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

I meant to say 1/2oz Kent Goldings at 5min. This is a 5 gallon recipe. The Maris Otter was cracked at BrewCraft in SF. I am surprised that it only reached 1.038 also. I may have not used enough water in the boil!

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

Yeah, oh well, live and learn. Thanks for the heads up. I'll let you know how it turns out. BTW, I added 12 teabags of Ambrosia Plum. Rare White and Green Tea blended with Strawberry leaves, Rose Petals and Plum. . Should be interesting. :D

Is this yeast on the bottom of my carboy?

That looks good! Although I would have filled the carboy up to the area were it starts turning inwards.

    What went wrong??

When were the hops added to the boil on #1? I never use anything but tap water here in SF. You shouldn't use a water that is too "clean" Some of the best water to use comes from the tap. Bottling after 1 week seems premature. The first beer I ever made stayed in a fermentation bucket for 1...

Coor's Disposable Keg = Party Pig?

Wow, so you actually carbed your apfelwein with the Home Draft System? I bought a Coors Light Home Draft and can't wait to try this. So, when you say it "absorbed" a cartridge, when you removed it to add a new cartridge, it didn't leak out the CO2 from the bottle?

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

So, the OG ended up being 1.038 which sort of blows. I added another 2lbs of corn sugar and got it up to 1.050, which I was hoping for. I'm not a big fan of weak beer. 6lb Liquid Malt Extract 2 lb Maris Otter 1/2oz Kent Golding 15min 1/2oz Hersbrucker 15min 1/2oz Maris Otter 5min (Correction...

Hope I didn't screw it up...

Don't worry about the gasket. It'll be fine, plus you could pull it out later with a wire coat hanger or similar. If you properly added the yeast it will be ok. Keep an eye on it and check it every couple of days. It either will hit your FG or come close. Don't worry, should be ok. Also...

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

Okay! Thanks guys. I went with those parts along with 1/2 oz Hersbrucker at 15min. Looking for something that has a nice hop at the finish.

Kent Gold, Maris Otter, Safe ale 04- What?

What can I brew with this? An English Ale? Any suggestions? I wish I had some fruit, or something! Best, K

What is OG if 6lbs 2row liq. mlt in 5gal carboy?

Oops. Sorry, I haven't been on this forum in a while. The Kasteel Cru didn't come out well. It was perfectly drinkable but tasted like a malt liquor. Like Old English 800 or similar. Too sweet for my tastes. I was going to try again when I had the chance. I may have added too much liquid malt...

Good Earth Sweet n' Spicy Tea?

This has got to be the best beer I've made so far. Absolutely delicious. The carbing has changed the profile somewhat. It smells fairly fruity, powdery and soft. The taste starts crisp with a bit of fruit, then has a soft mouth feel, then the taste of tea, light cinnamon, but without the...

Good Earth Sweet n' Spicy Tea?

I took a reading last night. The gravity was already at 1.010. So I bottled today. The taste is amazing. There is some orange, fruit and cinnamon flavors that are right where I wanted them to be. I can't wait for this one!

Good Earth Sweet n' Spicy Tea?

Yes, 1.050 was the OG I was looking for. That was spot on Rex. Tastes like I thought it would, good!

Good Earth Sweet n' Spicy Tea?

Weird, checked again and the gravity is 1.051!
