Kegerator, but not built from a fridge or freezer?

Where's the probe sitting and do you have air movement? With a 6' tall box, cooling unit on top and no air movement, you're going to have stratification. If your probe is near the top, it won't sense much cooling for quite some time. If you were closer, I'd give you this and you could tear...

    Room temp shelf life

You could pasteurize your filled bottles. There's a sticky in the cider forum. That should get you a pretty good shelf life that would be easily measured in months.

Pennsylvania Tap Handles & Cornelius Chest Bottle Rack Vendor (No Rack) for kegerator? Erie, PA

EDIT: Chest Style Bottle Vendor has been claimed. Thanks everyone Also up for grabs are a few tap handles that I made that I don't know if I'll ever use. Price: I don't know, $5 for each? I'm open to suggestions. I might ship these, but probably will not make more, I'm not looking to become...

Kegerator, but not built from a fridge or freezer?

How often is your compressor running and how is it controlled?

    Vintage Kegerator - Crosley

I'd say your best bet is to dig through those old threads and look for similarities to your fridge. Ultimately you'll want to make a decision as to whether you want to risk tearing into it or just drill holes in the door. Even with those threads and having a similar fridge, I killed my...

    Vintage GE Refrigerator

Yeah, that looks to be exactly what you have. If you google GE monitor top and look for pictures, there are some identical looking units with the monitor top. I wonder who took it off, I've been told the refrigerant in those is nasty stuff. If you're looking for just a serving unit and not...

Need advice: bought a sankey keg with the new house. Now what?

That wasn't the clincher for buying the house, was it? SWMBO: "Honey, this house is smaller than the others that we looked at and there's a bunch of junk in the basement." You: "I know, I know, but there's a keg down there. It comes with a KEG! Let's up our offer." The good news is, at that...

AW Root Beer Extract/Clone Recipe ?

The dandelion referenced above is dandelion root, also a common ingredient in ROOT beer along with licorice root, sarsaparilla root and burdock root. Though I agree that sassafras is an important ingredient, it is the most flavorful of all those roots.

AW Root Beer Extract/Clone Recipe ?

I'll have to go dig up my notes, but not much. Dandelion root doesn't quite give the same notes as sassafras. It's much more earthy.

    LED computer fan in keezer

Longer wavelength = less energy. Red should be fine. Can't be any worse than sitting in an amber bottle. Blue would be more likely to cause problems. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it.

AW Root Beer Extract/Clone Recipe ?

What flavor extracts are available there in Ireland? My closest has been McCormick extract with equal parts of vanilla extract, though if you can't get that, I'm not sure what to tell you. You might have to get your hands on some roots, though that will be a harder road. You'll need...

The HomeBrewTalk 2015 Big Giveaway Enter Now!

So, did I miss where it was mentioned when the actual drawing takes place? I don't see that here or in the entry thread. EDIT: Nevermind, found it in the fine print. Thanks!

    Sodastream to Disposable Cartridge Adapter

I've seen adapters for paintball guns that will allow the 12g cartridges to be used in the guns that use a CAS tank, but not the other way around. There was someone around here that crafted some sort of adapter to hook up a 5lb tank to the Tap-A-Draft that uses the cartridges. I think they...

    Maltodextrin helps with head retention.

    Is my keg dead?

If that doesn't work, you could drill it out and replace the post nipple: http://www.chicompany.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=376_1_3_260&products_id=3276 Someone here used these to attach ball lock posts to a sanke keg and instead of welding it in they just brought it up through...

    Cucumber soda?

My standard is 10 cups of sugar/gallon, but that's just me. I've done a cucumber melon soda before, but it ended up being pretty pulpy. I used about 1/2 of a medium cucumber for 1 gallon. If you're doing straight cucumber, maybe use a whole cucumber per gallon. I diced it up, heated my sugar...

upright 9 tap with raspberry pints finally done

Looks pretty epic! Kind of a bummer to not have easy access to your temp controller, though. I have enough frustration with mine being in the bottom corner of the side of my mini-fridge, so I can't always easily glance to see the reading, but hats off to you for being less OCD than me...

Drinking Vinegar / Vinegar Shrub / Shrub / Vinegar Syrup

Check the acidity of the vinegar you're using. The McClary's that you referenced is 50 grain or 5%. I think that most apple cider vinegar that you buy at the grocery is typically 40 grain or 4%. To substitute, remember N1V1=N2V2, so if it is 4% then .04*x=0.5*1.25, x would end up at 1.5625...
