    What are you drinking now?

Congratulations! I have two of my own. It's the best feeling in the world. I brew a beer in their name for their birthday partys every year. That's really more for me though, since they're going to be 7 and 2 this year.

    Bumping up my NEIPA Timeline

I've never cold crashed one of my NEIPAs before but this batch I've dry hopped with more than ever before and it's definitely noticeable in the wort. Do your NEIPAs look like a hop slurry before you cold crash?

Is it a sign I did a bad job?

I'd take a free beer from someone no matter the kind if I were away from home. At home, I'd have no desire to ever drinking a macro lager since I always have something better. There has been a case of Busch light in my fridge for 2 years that someone brought to a party of mine. I've never...

    Bumping up my NEIPA Timeline

I sure hope this works for me. I decided last minute to brew a batch this past Saturday to hopefully be ready for a fantasy baseball draft on the 24th. That’s two weeks exactly. I used Imperial Juice and it seems to be taking its time but I think it’ll finish up today or tomorrow.

    Bumping up my NEIPA Timeline

Agreed. If you were missing something in your beer and wanted to try to see if lactose would help, I'd say go for it. But, if you have a recipe working for you, I wouldn't bother adding any just for the sake of it.

    Bumping up my NEIPA Timeline

Haha, I guess, technically if we want to break it down into yet another category. They don’t advertise it that way and whos to say how many NEIPAs have lactose that we don’t know about so I’m fine with just NEIPA.

    Bumping up my NEIPA Timeline

Bring this older thread to life to mention I've recently been drinking a NEIPA by Free Will Brewing and they use lactose. It does give a sweetness but it's not overwhelming and the mouthfeel of the beer is amazing. That may or may not have more/less to do with the grain bill/hop oils, though...

Switching from glass carboy to Stainless Fermenter for < $50

Great idea but this thread made me bite the bullet and order an Anvil SS Fermentor. These things look awesome and got word from Anvil that they got a bunch in just today and they should be ready to ship soon (in case anyone has been looking).

    Improving, mashing, calculations, and honey

How much water did you use in your calculations? That doesn’t seem like enough grist to get you where you were targeting, assuming it’s a 5 gallon batch. How do you sparge and how long does it take? I’d start by taking a look at my water/ grain ratio for the mash, make sure I’m hitting proper...

    Cheaper alternative the the Thermapen

I'm getting ready to buy the Lavatools Javelin Pro Duo. Mostly for my grilling habit but it will also serve well at checking brewing temps. I like the Thermapen MK4 but all of the side by sides I've seen make me actually like the Javelin better and it's half the price.
