    Spent Grain

I throw it in the yard and the birds eat it.

    Secondary Fermentation

 Airlock. A stopper would be bad.

    Correct Fermentation Temp?

I often brew in the 72-74 range, just then zen of Florida brewing, and it seems to work ok.

Hop Pellets - Strain the Wort?

Before you start the siphon, stir the wort vigorously to create a mini whirlpool, the sediment will collect in a mound in the center with little on the edges where you siphon. Also wrap a choreboy scrubber around the pickup to filter.

What kind of water do you use?

Tap water that I boil the night before to remove the chlorine.

    honey in beer

I've done the honey thing a few times. One thing to be aware of is it seems to produce a much more agressive fermentation, blow off tube time.

    Bags for hops

The chore boy on the end of the cane works great and is easy to clean. I bought a box of them just for that purpose, the wife knows not to touch my pads. ;)

    I got the runs

Getting a stomach full of the yeast on the bottom of the bottle will do that, but not for a week. Yeast is a great laxative. :(

Cracked open one of the jet fuel bottles

After a couple weeks I decided to try one of the bottles of beer from the last run. The one I posted tasted like JP40 jet fuel. Well.......this is really mellowing out and was downright pleasant to drink. Still has a bit of aftertaste but another couple weeks should fix that up. :D

    "wort" or "wert"

While wert is the correct way, I prefer to call it "basal state beer". :p

    Frementer Lock Explosion!!!

I sure hope you are not married, wives really frown on repainting a room with beer. :(

    Adding priming sugar

My response could be interpreted wrong. I do boil it in a couple cups of water and add the solution to the bottom of the bucket and let the siphon current mix the solution. I setup the siphon tube to direct the current around the circumfrence of the bucket which seems to provide a good mix. Once...

    Frementer Lock Explosion!!!

You do NOT want the lock to get plugged up if it is fermenting that vigorously, replace it wih a blow off tube. If the lock plugs and the pressure keeps building inside you could end up mopping the ceiling.

Just put a batch in the bottles

I tried one last night after a week in the bottles and it has mellowed quite a bit. Still very hoppy but that should also mellow out. I'll try some again next weekend and see how it is going. The current plan is to move it to cold conditioning in early Feb.

    Cooling the wart?

I'll buy a chiller at some point, but right now I put the kettle in a bathtub full of cold water and it give it a couple stirs. Enough water so it tries to float but not enough to tip. Comes down to room temperature in about 20-30 minutes.

    Where is everyone from?

I used to do a lot of caving around Johnson City, usually followed by a lot of drinking.
