The adventures of a complete noob and a brew rig

Just put a deposit down on 3 stainless steel cylinders that I'll be using for shrouds. 20 gauge stainless 12.5 internal diameter and six inches high. I'll be using my dremel to make the cutouts. Hope to have some pics for everyone soon. Price for the cylinders is $45 for all three

    Cut the keggle... Now what???

There are some simple all in one false bottom/ weldless ball valve setups you can buy I'm not really sure what the consenses is on these things. This is mine but I haven't used it yet and can't speak from experience. I'm not using a sight glass on my mash tun but I did install some...

I'm doing this someday. So just copper? Did you need to use Teflon or anything else to get it all connected?

Did you take any pics of when you built that false bottom? That's awesome and I have three of those discs left to use and I think I would like to try that.

    Jig didn't work for me...

Actually doesn't look bad. Once you grind the edges down a bit it's going to look great!

    Leaky weldless fittings

Great thanks for the tip! So with whirlpooling what would be the most ideal way to setup my keggle? I'm certain I would need to add another port or valve and set my dip tubes in opposite directions and use my pump to circulate..... Is that correct? What would be the optimal height for the...

    Leaky weldless fittings

Ok so I'm an idiot and the Teflon fixed all but one leak. The only leak left is the main ball valve in my hlt. Going to try the advice given. On a separate note, I'll putting the finishing touches on my brew kettle and would like to discuss some options. I have a plate chiller and will...

The adventures of a complete noob and a brew rig

Well I'm not sure. I haven't found another configuration yet that's simple enough for me to comprehend that offers a ground option.

The adventures of a complete noob and a brew rig

I am going to have a local sheet metal company make some burner shields for me soon. Due to my current design I have some inherent limits to what I can use so I'm thinking of just asking these guys to give me three 16 gauge stainless steel cylinders at 2-4 inches in height and roughly 12-13...

The adventures of a complete noob and a brew rig

I can say it has taken me a lot longer to build than I ever expected too, but I also feel bada$$ when my neighbors see me in my garage being manly wielding an angle grinder or my welder..... And yes they all hate me now because of all the noise. Oh well I never liked them anyways.

The adventures of a complete noob and a brew rig

I bought a timer to put on my ultra low tech "control panel" and I use that term loosely. Just doing a quick mock up it should look something like this. Since this is my first attempt at a project like this I am just going to stick with the two switches for the burners the timer and...

You are probably right. If you don't already own the tools then you are definitely right. It's been a lot of fun though.

    Leaky weldless fittings

Cool. So the problem is on the inside not the outside?
  18. T

    Leaky weldless fittings

Hey guys thank you for the tips! My brew kettle is fairing a little better but still drilled a little too close to the indention. On this one I have a gasket on the inside and outside is this technically ok or will the heat from the burners melt the exterior gasket? Rookie mistakes on both...
