    sanitizing question for newbie

I'm brewing this weekend and unfortunately my Star San didn't come in the mail. I found a food safe sanitizer at a restaurant supply store locally in town. It's called Betco Sanibet 256 Sanitizer. Here's the link. Anybody see anything that might make the beer taste bad on the active ingredient...

    Brew-Magic help

It has a valve on the bottom of the system that drains all water out that gets stuck at the bottom of the tanks . The manual says this also acts as a way of bleeding the lines if they get air locked. Tried it and still can't get the pump to move water. I'll play with it in the morning. Thanks...

    Brew-Magic help

To anybody that has experience with a brew-magic system: Just got ours yesterday and did a water test this morning. Poured 10 gallons into the sparge tank. Opened valve to flood pump and then turned it on. Successfully pumped water into Mash. Shut pump off and then opened valve to boil kettle...

    Soapy after taste...

What did you sanitize with? I've used a bleach solution before and ended up with a soapy/chemical taste in the bottles.

    Bichmann vs Sabco

So for the last year or so I've been turning a spare bedroom in the back of the house into somewhat of a man-cave. I'm fairly new to home brewing, starting about a year and a half ago and just finishing my 3rd all-grain batch last month. I'm addicted now. I've gotten the OK from the old lady to...

Looking for ******* Brew in Richmond VA

Yeah, sorry about the spelling on that. Theobroma came out a few months ago. Supposed to have some South American influences (Hunduras I think) cocoa, chilies, etc. I thought it tasted kind of like Midas Touch which isn't my favorite DFH brew to begin with.

    McEwan's Scotch Ale

Ahh, McEwan's Scotch Ale. The good ole days. I remember drinking that stuff in college by the liter at a bar called "The Oak Barrel" in downtown Tampa. Thought it was the greatest Scottish Ale that ever existed. Then I tried "Old Chub" by Oskar Blues.

Looking for ******* Brew in Richmond VA

I was disappointed with ******* Brew. I love Dogfish Head and everything they stand for. Sam is really innovative obviously and their IPA's are some of the best on the market IMO. But some of these limited release specialty beers they've been coming out with just haven't been very good. *******...

    Want to try a Barleywine

Dogfish Head Fort is supposed to be the strongest Barley Wine on the market coming in at around 18%. Their "Old School" is pretty decent too.

    Sabco Chill Wizard?

Again, you completely miss the point.

    Sabco Chill Wizard?

Not for nothing but why is it than when somebody asks people on this board their opinion on a product, any product, the answer is always you can build it cheaper yourself? Some of us would generally like to now if other people have used these products and what their personal experiences are with...

Reverse Osmosis water for home brewing

Going to be brewing my first all grain batch this week. Downloaded my city's annual water quality report. Since I live on an island the raw water drinking source is brackish and they use reverse osmosis. Does anybody have any experience brewing with RO water and does it make the beer bland...

    Fruit flies in airlock

Hi Guys New to this forum and new to home brewing. Just finished my second batch of Scotch Ale yesterday. When I checked it this afternoon I noticed 2 dead fruit flies floating in the water of the airlock to the fermenter. The airlock has a cap on it that was sealed properly and the...

    Hello from southwest Florida

Hey Guys. Been lurking around here for the last year or so. Finally brewed my 1st batch about a month ago and have my 2nd one fermenting now. There's nothing like pouring that 1st bottle of beer into a glass and tasting the fruits of your labor. Awesome! Anyways, thanks for creating this forum...
