    Ruthless Rye

Definitley the best Sierra beer I've had.

    Worst style of beer

Doesn't Budweiser make a seafood beer? That would fly in the face of "there is no worst style beer" arguement. Thats pretty freakin bad man.

    Brewery names--what's your story?

Point Ybel Brewing Company. Named after the small strip of land on the east end of Sanibel Island that the lighthouse sits on. Giving new meaning to the phrase "Island Hopping".

    What are you drinking now?

Southern Tier x2 Double IPA. Love it.

    Sam Calagione on "Beer Geeks"

Also FWIW, the beer snob scene hosts some of the biggest hipster *********s around. It doesn't surprise me that DFH would come up as "overrated" simply because a lot of people know about it now and drink it. I guess Sam has "sold out" because he's expanded his company on a national level and did...

    Sam Calagione on "Beer Geeks"

I actually stopped reading the comments when somebody started dumping on Cigar City. I honestly have never had a bad beer from them. But it goes to show you that everybody tastes beers differently. I used to think DFH 90 min was one of the best IPA's I'd ever had. Then one night I ordered a CCB...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

The only decent Magic Hat brew I've had was their Vinyl Lager. But #9 is god awful. I can't believe it's popularity down here in Florida. it's on tap everywhere.

    Temperature control

Cooling wort has proven to be the most difficult aspect of brewing for me. I live in south florida where the water comes out of the tap around 85 degrees. I bought a chill-wizard which almost instantly brings the boiling wort down to about that temp but getting it down the final 15 degrees has...

Any Sabco Brew Magic Users Out There?

Sabco posted it a couple of months ago on their facebook page. Said they were working on a 1 barrel home brewery directly with dogfish head and it would be another RIMS system with a similar but updated control.

    Temp control for chest freezer

Thanks. I get it now. I'm looking at the temp on the display thinking it's the temp of the fermenting beer. Makes sense now. This site is so awesome.

    Temp control for chest freezer

Does anybody have experience with Ranco temperature controls? I bought one and have it in my chest freezer. I'm fermenting a pale ale and have it set to 75 degrees. I went down to check on today and noticed it was down to 66 degrees. I double checked the thermo and it was definitely set...

national homebrew day May 7th what's brewing

This was our 1st brew on our brew-magic system. It was me and the old lady so the fact divorce papers haven't been served yet I'll say it was a success. In all seriousness, I wanted to start w/ something easy. In brewing a batch on a Sabco system there is mos def a learning curve. Everything...

    sanitizing question for newbie

thanks. I've used bleach in a pinch before and ruined batches simply because I wasn't thorough enough in cleaning it off. I would have just gone ahead and used this stuff but found another thread in the sanitizing board that said quaternaries are not to be used for brewing beer because they...

    Sanitizer Question

DO NOT USE QUATS AROUND BEER. Are you absolutely sure about this? The label says it's a "food contact sanitizer". If it leaves a bad taste when used for brewing I would have to think it left a bad taste on food as well.
