Yeah, my conscious kicked itself when I posted that...maybe its more popularity, commercialization, or history for Bells. I mean, I can walk into any Marathon and find Bells, but not Founders. Kudos to Bells, Founders is on its way!
Let's see...I've seen six packs of hopslam for anywheres of $13.99 to $16.99 and the 1.32 gal mini keg for $34.99. And damn its good this year. Definitely a plus for living in Northern Michigan...
Damn, this is tough. I think overall Bells has better "commercial" beers (I hate to say that) , and Founders still has that "craft" appeal. As a homebrewer from Northern Michigan, its a tie!!!
So, I'm choking back a Milwaukee's Best Light and on the side of the can it says "contains no additives or preservatives". But aren't hops a preservative?!?!?! Wondering if any others have seen shenanigans like this...
I would have to agree about that saturation point. My calculations came out to 1.109 and I only hit 1.080, and I usually have an efficiency of 80%-85%... I'll be adding some Makers and oak cubes in the secondary, so that should bump it up a little...:drunk:

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I think I'll go with a 3.5 gallon batch and no DME, which puts my Makers Mark oaked Wee Heavy at 1.109.
So, out of curiosity, what are the advantages and disadvantages of adding DME/LME to an all-grain brew?:drunk:
Thanks for the quick response all. Much appreciated! I will add DME the last 10-15 minutes of the boil per your recommendations. I do like the idea of a 3-4 gallon batch, but 5 gallons doesn't last SWMBO and myself long enough as it is!!! :tank:
Love this forum! :rockin: My question is: how can I brew a big beer (1.080+) when I max out at 11lbs of grain in my 5 gallon mash tun? Would adding LME or DME at flameout work? Or would that just give me a dry beer? (which I don't want for my Wee Heavy...)
Yeah, I know, going to a 10 gal...
Just curious if anyone has brewed this lately and has any tasting notes you can share? I was looking for a good wedding brew and this recipe caught my eye. My only hesitation is all the jasmine... is it overpowering?
Just curious how your stout turned out? I have a sweet stout doing the same thing. I contribute it to temperature differences on the carboy. I had a fan blowing near it and that was the side I got the darker krausen...
