    Holiday ale label

I did the same thing with my Cousin Eddie's Christmas Ale, people kept asking me if they could drink it. They said they felt like it was too cool to drink. By far one of the more rewarding christmas gifts I have given everyone.

    Pin lock keg posts.

I would just setup the hoses so you can just unscrew the locks and switch out for what keg you are gonna use. I did this on the account I knew I would be getting the coke style kegs but was purchasing the pepsi style kegs. Works like a charm. You need to get 2 bolts and 2 different locks per keg.

Quick question before I brew tomorrow

No I do have a chiller, I just have read a couple of articles in Brew about how to make light colored extracts. This was one of their tips. I think it just depends on what you are brewing. Carmelization leds to higher SRM, which I have been making alot of wheats lately. If its not as big of...

Quick question before I brew tomorrow

I use a 30 quart aluminum on a stovetop, and I never start with a full 5.5 gallons of wort. What kind of brewing are you doing? Extract I assume? You will only need 2-3 gallons of wort for the whole boil. Add water on the back end while cooling. It is also a good idea to add the majority of...

Winter Wheat grain for a Wheat Beer?

    cooling wort with sanitary ice

I am getting ready to purchase a wort chiller here in the next month, however I have had success doing the following steps. Buy distilled nusery water, typically about $1 a gallon, and putting it in the freezer before brewing, and getting it close as possible to freezing. Then using it to top...

    First kegging today

I just kegged a strawberry blonde today. Based on the info from the LHBS and the sticky above I did the following. I siphoned from my secondary into the keg which had been in the cooler at roughly 50 degrees. Set my CO2 tank to the beer smith recommended force carb setting of 22 psi. Rocked...

    First Crack at Labels

Yeah I probably should play with that more, I printed one out on just regular paper and it was not soo bad. Those are just JPEG copies compared to the photoshops which are alot cleaner.

    Chocolate mint stout

Funny, my wife wants to start trying to brew with me, so I was asking her what she thought might be something she would want to make. "How about like a chocolate mint beer" she said, to which I replied "Yeah why don't we just mix some Guiness and mouth wash." Awesome

Did I bottle and cool too soon.

Sweet, thanks guys. I was thinking thats what happened. The good news is the beer was great just flat. That said the other 60+ bottles of each have been sitting in cabinet in the kitchen, cool and dark.

Did I bottle and cool too soon.

Its been 2 wks since I bottled my first beer and first cider. Upon bottling I placed 3 or 4 or each directly into the fridge. I just wanted to see if it made a difference, and did not ready anywhere I could not do this. I opened one of each from the fridge the other day to check them out...
