    Having problems with over attenuation!

So a quick update on this. I tried a few of the things you guys suggested on a brew I did 3 days ago. It was a West coast IPA that started at 1.058. it was calculated to finish at 1.014 again. I didn't oxygenate at all this time ither than naturally with transferring the chilled wort from the...

Ss BrewTech Chronical + Pump Cart = Ultimate CIP

I made this setup as well and it's not working well. I have 3 conicals. One is a 1/2 BBL spike, one is a 15 gallon brewershardware, and the other is a SS brewing 7 gallon. I used this the other day on the SS conical and it didn't clean well at all. It just foamed up a bunch on the inside of the...

What size mash tun for 1/2BBL no sparge mash?

Which calculator are you using? Was that for a 1/2BBL of the 1.067 batch? I tried emailing Spike on Monday to upgrade to a 50 gallon mash tun but they said it was too late even though it wasn't getting made until the end of this week. They said the holes had already been punched out so a 30...

What size mash tun for 1/2BBL no sparge mash?

Ok so walking through the way I've calculated this. With a 12 gallon into the fermenter batch for 10 full gallons into the keg, and a 1.047 SG for my pilsner, I'd need 22lb of grain. Then a boil time of 1.5 hours due to an all pilsner malt grain bill. Entering that into brew365 and upping the...

What size mash tun for 1/2BBL no sparge mash?

Hey guys! I've been researching for the past couple days and can't find what I'm looking for. I ordered a 30 gallon mash tun from Spike on Friday evening but am really reconsidering my decision. I already have their 30 gallon boil kettle because I don't plan on doing 1BBL batches anytime soon...

    Having problems with over attenuation!

I'm definitely going to have to play around with some stuff. To throw another wrench in, I just got my new 30 gallon spike kettle that now I'm going to have to refigure all my brewhouse calculations again. I think I brewed one batch of extract when I first started brewing, then 2 biab batches...

    Having problems with over attenuation!

I always use my blichmann bottle filler for filling bottles off the keg, and I usually use it to fill cans. Sometimes I get lazy and if I know the beer will be drank in the next few days, I'll fill the cans right from my taps with the perlick growler filler tube. The only time I bottle is for...

    Having problems with over attenuation!

I didn't q I do quite a few lagers and pilsners. Everything I've read says if you don't do a 90 minute boil with pilsners malt, that you will have DMS. I guess I've always played it safe but I've made a few award winning pilsners so I guess it's working out. I use floor malted pilsner malt...

    Having problems with over attenuation!

Yeah I have 3 stainless conicals all connected to a glycol chiller with pumps and two temp gauges per conical. They hold within .5 degrees of where I have them set. I will usually start at around 66° for the first couple days, then bump to 68° for the remainder of fermentation. Then a few days...

    Having problems with over attenuation!

Would too much oxygen via my oxygen wand cause it to drop so low? I'm thinking about only letting it have whatever oxygen it gets from the transfer next time and not adding anymore via the wand to see if that is the reason why.

    Having problems with over attenuation!

Thanks for the info. I am definitely going to start doing them going forward. I did it with the Sculpin clone I brewed but it still dropped to 1.008, which is within reason for 001, but with 1318 1.004 is a little ridiculous, especially when I was aiming for 1.014 to leave a little residual...

    Having problems with over attenuation!

Hey guys and gals! Looking for a little input because I'm getting really tired of ALL my beers always over attenuating. I had this problem on my grandfather and also on my 3 vessel setup. This happens no matter what yeast I use or what temperature i mash at. Here is my process. I always build...

California Brewershardware 8gal jacketed conical, SSbrewing 7gal BME conical with FTSs2 cooling and heating

Prices are listed. Id be willing to include a brand new Fast Ferment and stand with the purchase of either one, or maybe a stainless head Chugger to sweeten the deal but I think shipping would kill the deal.

California Grainfather with Connect and old controller, Grainfather sparge heater, and cart

Weekend bump. To make the deal even better and to free up some space, I'll include a brand new in the box fast ferment conical fermenter with stand. I can't believe this hasn't sold yet at this price, but there is another $150 item being thrown in free. Everything you need to brew all in one...

California Brewershardware 8gal jacketed conical, SSbrewing 7gal BME conical with FTSs2 cooling and heating

Ok guys and gals. Need these gone. My new 30 gallon kettle gets here on Tuesday and I need to get some 1/2 BBL fermenters. Also willing to trade up and add some cash for a SS unitank either 14 gallon or 1/2BBL.

    Yet another coffin keezer build!!

Haha yup..well and if anything, for the mean time until I get this thing up and running..I never knew how bad it would suck to not have my beer on tap anymore. The convenience factor is huge.

    Yet another coffin keezer build!!

Haha yeah it's a tight fit so we will see how that works out. Even if I get 9 I'll be happy with that. Once I throw a Sanke keg in there, that will decrease by probably another keg.

    Yet another coffin keezer build!!

Last but not least is the drip tray. I'm still up in the air on what I'm going to do for this, but I think I'm going to have to have a custom one made. If I remember correctly, when I measured it's going to have to be 50 or 51" long by about 8" width. The drains I'm going to run on each side...

    Yet another coffin keezer build!!

So for the tower itself, I got all of the straight fittings as close to lined up as possible and Mig welded them on the back side so they wouldn't spin, plus not be visible. I'm waiting for some copper tee's to come in so I can start figuring out how in going to get everything inside. As far as...
