How do I know if I got a bad heating element?

So here is how I had it mounted originally. Problem was the temp probe is flush with the bottom of the tri clamp. So it wasn't reading temp properly. Im not sure why but I can only imagine there is air at the top due to where the tri clamp is mounted on the kettle. However, I figured that the...

How do I know if I got a bad heating element?

Yeah it was definitely something I did because it looked normal when I got it. I just don't know how though because I was so freaking careful. Live and learn.

    Ss Brewtech eBrewing

Here ya go..for reference though, I don't use anything under mine. Kinda the point of having a stainless table. https://www.ssbrewtech.com/collections/accessories/products/ekettle-10-gal-silicon-mat

How do I know if I got a bad heating element?

Well I decided to go to home Depot just to see if they had a 240V 5500w element and they did for $18. Brought it home and checked it with my meter. 10.5 ohms. Swapped it in and it's working perfect. Now I know something definitely went wrong with the other element. Not sure what though.

How do I know if I got a bad heating element?

Yeah I was just trying to get some reassurance on my findings. I watched that video and a few others. My element is no good. No continuity and when I touch the nut or a ground, it doesn't show anything either. Really bummed.

How do I know if I got a bad heating element?

So I did that and that's where I got my reading of 1.087 ohms. Not sure exactly how to read that. Does that mean I have a bad element? so I guess the one thing I don't understand is the decimal point and maybe I have a setting off on my multimeter. I'm wondering if that should be 10.87 ohms.

How do I know if I got a bad heating element?

Long story short, decided to build a RIMS tube to replace my Blichmann RIMS rocket. I got it put together yesterday and decided to test it out today for a brewday. Got my mash water dialed in, turned on the pump to get the water flowing through everything for a few minutes like I always do to...

Need some help with 4 wire vs 3 wire temp probe

Hey guys! I just upgraded my electric rims system from a 240V 3500watt Blichmann Rims ricket running off the Blichmann 240V electric controller, to a 2" tri clover Rims tube with a 240V 5500w element from ebrewsupply. I tried to adapt my blichmann temperature sensor over to the new rims tube...

Does anyone have the SS brewtech 14gallon Unitank?

Well I'm starting to think that even though a company promotes their product as a multi batch unit, these things are best served as the batch size they were made for. I can tell you this. I don't know if it has to do with only being 7 gallons, but my unitank and both of my BME 7 gallon...

Does anyone have the SS brewtech 14gallon Unitank?

Well I currently have 3 different brand conicals(Spike CF15,Brewershardware 14 gallon single wall, and the SS 7 gallon unitank). In the past, I've had the SS 7 gallon BME and the Brewershardware 8 gallon jacketed conicals. I like them all but they all have their pluses and minuses. That said...

Is Fast Pitch canned wort coming back?

Just figured I'd post a quick update. My new 4 pack of Fast Pitch came in today. Guess what???? I was right. The pH of the concentrated wort in the can is 4.54 which comes in lower than 4.6, so botulism cannot take over due to the acid level. That's how they are getting away with it which is...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

Here is a graph if the way I did the test was correct. Also, I was trying to put temps on the graph too but couldn't figure it out. I started getting too tired but the temps flucuated between 18.8°C-19.0°C the entire 3 hours. One other thing that could cause a small inconsistency is at the 6...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

So I read the post by AJ, and am currently at the 140 minute mark. One thing I'm not sure if I'm doing right or not though. Should I be turning off the pH meter in between tests? Then turning it back on and letting it stabilize and take the reading? The way ive been doing it is ive turned off...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

Quick update... Just received my Omega PHH-7011 today. Out of the box, it was reading 4.03 on the 4.01 buffer and 7.02 on the 7.0 buffer. Calibrated it with the included buffers in the nice little plastic case that it came in. Retested the buffers and it was dead on. Then decided to try another...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

Well dang..I wish this would've got posted yesterday. I went ahead and ordered the Omega PHH-7011 after finding a few detailed reviews and stability tests. Also spent about 30 minutes on the phone with Omega's "pH department". The guy I spoke with actually had one next to him and went through a...

Is Fast Pitch canned wort coming back?

So ill go ahead and bring this back up. I brewed a batch of Pale Ale on Saturday with some guys from my brew club .My ingredient to bring was yeast, so I made a yeast starter using one of the previous canned starter worts that I made. Still super unhappy with the results of using DME as a base...

Hach Pocket Pro+ vs Omega Phh 7011

Well after messing with the Pocket Pro+ for the past few weeks, and using it on brewday this past Friday, it is getting returned. I'm sure my electrode is bad after troubleshooting twice with Hach. Even after calibration in current NIST traceable buffer solutions, the probe was reading .07-.12...

Need some help with mash temps on a RIMS system

Thanks Martin! Unfortunately I must be losing too much temp through the mash tun walls because the mash bed during my last 60 min mash just would not come up to temp. However, the wort coming out of the rims rocket outlet was at the set temp. Next brew day I'll check the actual temp of the wort...

Need some help with mash temps on a RIMS system

So I seem to be having an issue I definitely need to get fixed. I recently upgraded to a 30 gallon mash tun from Spike as well as their 30 gallon BK. Prior to this, I was using my 10 gallon SSbrewtech insulated mash tun using the same 240v blichmann rims system which I believe is 3500 watts...
