    SS Fermentor Options?

I have been using a converted 7.75G pony keg and love it. I got this from Sabco. Basically ordered their select sanke keg without the valve. so just the Keg with the 4" TC fitting welded on the top. I think they charged me around 160 which wasn't bad. I then ordered a 4" TC end cap and...

    Extract based Honey Bacon Beer

"1 cup vodka heavily infused with bacon and hickory chips (added at end of boil)" i would add this in the secondary or at bottling to help preserve the flavors a bit more

    220V --> SSR --> 5500W Heating Element Question

or you could just get a dual output relay to control both hot legs like this one http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Teledyne-Relays/SD24D40-06/?qs=cFlnt7DBZX%252bUDtnVpHDyG7OoCBNjw0dt9xaE0LNJOrs%3d

    Hop smoked grain?

"I have heard that hop smoke smells very similar to the smoke of it's cousin plant" One thing to keep in mind your neighbors may think you are doing other things besides brewing

    Hop smoked grain?

sounds interesting.... i would think dried Hops would burn really quick and not really smolder which is what you need for good smoke.... i would try a mix of wood and Hops. get a good smolder going with the wood and add a handful of hops every few mins or so while it is smoking.... also pellet...

    Is Brewing Beer Legal?

There are a few states where it is still illegal but it is legal federally.... the limit is i believe 200 gallons per household per year.... and you can not sell with out a license

    volume meter?

just realized it would be +-.06 gallons per transfer not per gallon transferred so if you transferred 5 gallons it would be more like +-1%
  8. ajm163

    volume meter?

i think most bathroom scales do not do fractional lbs so i would think they would be accurate to +-.5lbs. which (if i did the math right) would be +-.06 gallons or +-6%

    volume meter?

some people use a pressure sensor near the bottom inside the HLT. the pressure of the water at the bottom of the HLT will increase at a in a linear fashion in proportion to the volume of water.... you would need some electronics to read the sensor and convert it to volume but it is fairly...

    New Sabco 7.75g Fermenter

I will be getting 2 of the "select Sanke" it is their "conditioning and serving" tank without the 4" triclamp valve piece. it is cheaper (especially without the valve) and i will be making my own 4" plate on the top anyways... i was concerned that loosing the clamp on the racking arm to turn it...

    New Sabco 7.75g Fermenter

I am doing something similar i have contacted them and am getting 2 without their 4" cap. I will be building my own cap with the ports i want on it... I agree i like the slim 1/4bbl but those are pretty hard to find at least for me. I did get a quote for $109 for some brand new ones but then i...

    New Sabco 7.75g Fermenter

I also like that i can steam sanitize it by putting it on direct heat and boiling a bit of water in it

    New Sabco 7.75g Fermenter

I really like the idea of doing some partial Pressure fermenting.... and in looking around it seemed like I had 2 options (for somewhat reasonable cost) ether a Brewhemoth or sabco's 1/2bbl fermenter.... the problem is I want to do 10-15g split batches so I don't need nearly anything that big...

Would this SSR work for both legs of a 240v element

I have used these with great success before http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Teledyne-Relays/SD24D40-06/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtoEuprvOlUo8O1sPrdJPKjAikaPjDLHjY%3d

Would this SSR work for both legs of a 240v element

that should work for both legs. they are controlled independently through the small pins... not a screaming deal though new ones (although without the heatsink) can be had for around $60

How's this for a jacketed fermenter?

I don't think the current number of Fermenters is the point.... If you plan to scale buying a new fridge every time you want to add a fermenter is just not a sustainable both from a cost and floor space angle. The idea is to have a scalable solution.... using the jackets and Glycol all you...
