Anyone lager the entire time in the primary?

Yep. Same here. Call it lazy...Ive always lagered (Bock) on the yeast cake. Comes out just fine.

Anyone do a brewers best extract kit

Sure. If thats what your prefer. I simply said there wasnt a *need* to...certainly not with an extract kit. Any beer will benefit from the aging regardless.

Increasing ABV with Hefe stuck at 1.018

3068 is my favorite yeast for Hefe....ive noticed it really likes warm ferm temps tho. 70ish is what I stay at. I prefer the extra banana anyways. When temps fall into the lower/mid 60's activity slows way down. I fill the bathtub up with hot water, agitate the bucket and set it in there for an...

Anyone do a brewers best extract kit

No need to do a secondary...3 weeks in the primary. Rack to a bottle bucket, prime, and bottle. Careful not to stir up the yeast cake/sediment.

    need help

Im gonna get some **** for this, but Im not so sure the brewing process needs to be given the sterile treatment like an operating room. Im not saying Ive brewed in the same bucket I previously pooped in (we don't have indoor plumbing in Dayton), but some people get wound up about sanitizing...

    Economics of new cars

I appreciate the kind words and you bring up an EXCELLENT point with prospect theory...if humans behaved in strict logical sense, then the lottery would cease to exist and frankly 'ol Bernie Madoff wouldn't have made off with Billions. Hell, country music wouldn't have had anything to write...

    What was your first car?

I had an '86 IROC-Z Camaro. I was 16 and wanted an IROC since they hit the showroom floor. Worked my ass off several summers to save up. I finally found one...mint condition. Garage kept. It was nice. Still being in high school, I ended up canceling the full coverage insurance for liability to...

    Economics of new cars

Moral of the story is; You win some - You lose some. We can debate financial models all day long, but what these sometimes don't represent well are the human factor. We're not machine's driven by mathematics. We're driven by emotion. (Alan Greenspan wasn't always the smartest man in the...

    Burner Valves

Baso makes pretty good stuff. We use em to retrofit old boilers etc...so they have a lot of options for you. From pilot to electronic ignition. I don't know about DC control....anything you'll come across is generally 24v AC. It'll be easier to get a gas valve with pilot, and interface the 24V...

    Pipe fitting electrical switch???

Man, you'll have to hit up your local plumbing supply house. That tee youre searching is called a 'side outlet tee'...it's galvanized and will be hard to find. It looks to be 3/4" judging by the picture. I've had my Journeyman lisc for 10yrs now and never used one for repair. Pretty rare. The...

    Home improvement salesmen rant

Idk man....I feel you. Any salesman paid commission is like this. Im a plumbing contractor, we're old school...no flat rate. We don't pay our employees commission either- but we hear/see customer experiences from dealings they've had with companies like youre describing.

    How often is too often?

Yes, that I can...fortunately, there are a couple 'corner stores' here in Dayton that stock pretty much everything because they also order outside the normal distro channels. The legalities? I have no idea, but I do know the hard to find stuff comes FedEx and UPS.

    Losing motivation

Sounds like not being able to brew is the least of the situation... fix the swmbo and fix the dip tube. life will be good.
