All Grain Issues - Crowd Source Triage

Thanks Guys! I have a good rapport with my LHBS staff, i will ask them to run it twice next time. I will trying increasing the water to grain ratio on my next brew day. I measure volumes and I'm usually spot on. My pre-boil gravity reading do show the trend of missing my numbers. When i'm...

Hello HBT! First, let me add the standard I love this site comment. If it was not for all of the great information here I would of never been as successful at HomeBrew as I em today. I moved to AG full-boil brewing in December after 10 months of extract brewing. Each batch is some of the best...

Can't taste cranberries in Cranberry Wheat

Did the kit call for you to thaw and heat the berries up? in all of the fruit brewing i've done or heard of follow two methods. 1. Frozen - This lessons the chance of infection 2. Puree - This leaves seeds (depending on the fruit) but imparts a lot of color and makes it almost impossible to...

First all grain-- mid brew question

SO TRUE! I'm three AG batches in (extract for 9 months before) and each time my efficiency gets better. I'm finding that identifying the nuances with your equipment is the biggest hurtle. All three AG batches have been off for one reason or another while i get stuff dialed in. Each beer has some...

Brewing with Fruit for the first time

If you puree it would be best to use vodka, this will keep everything sterile and add very little flavor. But if the berries are frozen you lesson the chances of infection. The brew takes up alot of the flavor and aroma.

Brewing with Fruit for the first time

I brew a strawberry blonde and have never used extract. I primary for 14days and secondary for 14days. I rack the beer into secondary on top of 8# of frozen strawberries. With the berries, I don't get much action. But you want all the room you can get for the added volume. Also, good to put...

Thanks everyone! I picked up BS with the idea that this will help me understand the relationships and underlying theories. Which is working, but I guess i need to spend more time learning the software. I think for the next few batches i will work it out on paper. Happy new year! :ban:
