A friendly place for friends who drink

Ha, I had an experience like that a while back. I was communicating via email with a person at our headquarters named Jadie. I had been working under the assumption that it was a woman (I used to work with a woman named Jade, so it seemed like not much of a stretch), until I got into a meeting...

Oops, missed my cue. My one cousin's kids started learning Spanish in kindergarten. Ok, it's just counting and colors and stuff, but really it makes sense to start them then when their brains are still little sponges for language skills. My biggest problem is that the aren't that many...

Same here. 4 years of HS Spanish and I feel like I can read it passably, but put me with a native speaker, and they may as well be speaking Mandarin. Too fast for me to keep up.

Haha, my story was almost the exact opposite. When I was little and my teachers asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I'd tell them I wanted to be an engineer, like my dad. "Oh, you want to drive trains?" -"No." (My dad was a structural engineer for GE for 30 years.)

Specialty Smoked Beer Islay Ale (3rd Place Specialty Beer Winner)

I did rack 1 gallon off onto oak chips, but they weren't soaked in anything and I rushed it. I could sometimes pick up a hint of oak, but it didn't really stand out. If I did it again, I'd definitely add the Laphroaig. I read through your thread when I was researching recipes. The idea of a...

    Commercial Saison thread

I had a 3 Floyds Rabbid Rabbit on Sunday. Compared to most of their beers, it had a very restrained character...not a hop bomb, not boozy, not even hugely fruity. There was some perfumy floral and lemongrass aroma and flavor, it made for a pleasant springtime beer.

Specialty Smoked Beer Islay Ale (3rd Place Specialty Beer Winner)

I lowballed it on the recipe because everything I'd read beforehand acted like it was nasty stuff, but I was quite pleased with the results. Either it's a very acquired taste, or something is horribly wrong with our palates! :mug:

Yeah, 6 months is kind of a stretch. I try to shoot for 3 months when buying or brewing hoppy beers.

QOTD: Curious/Creative Brewer. Not sure how much that fits...I'm not overly experimental.

QOTD: Amarillo and Citra. I love a big juicy IPA. I also really enjoy Nelson Sauvin in a dry saison.

[SPOILERS] Star Wars - The Force Awakens / Rogue One

Yeah, they backpedaled on it. Which could mean that her parents aren't physically in the movie, or just that we don't *find out* who they are yet.
