    Refrigerant chiller

hmmmm interesting! I can use my pressure washer to circulate the fluid.. God I miss watching MacGyver!

    Refrigerant chiller

Has anyone ever thought of hooking up a refrigerator compressor to a large copper coil and using that as a chiller? My little brother in-law brought up the idea and I was wondering if that would actually work.. Maybe even a coil from a dehumidifier! That gets WAY colder than tap water. I'm...

    new keg...new questions

Women just don't understand eh... From what I understand, The only reason you'd need a constant feed of Co2 would be if your keg wasn't air tight. you should go to Walmart and buy a cheap chest style freezer and hook up an adjustable thermostat to convert it to a keg fridge/dispenser.

    Dual Coil immersion chiller

Thanks for the advice.. This is why I didn't trim down the long straight pieces. I may bend them so they hook onto the keggle. I'm just not sure I will bend the solid tubing without kinking it.

    Dual Coil immersion chiller

Here's the chiller I gave birth to! I can post a parts list if anyone is interested in building one. I plan on testing it after the Canada day weekend! Should be much more efficient than one long coil that sticks 1/2 way out of the wort! I used a 50' coil of soft copper. The outer coil was...

    flaked maize substitute

Wow... I'd be scared using popped corn. I don't find it has that sweet corn flavor. I'll try to shop around for instant grits, it's not a common ingredient in Ottawa... Worst case, if I don't find anything before brewing day, I'll use the wife's cornmeal and follow Yooper's instructions.

    Dual coil chiller

Any updates on this setup? I was thinking of doing the same thing. My immersion chiller is coiled too high so I thought of removing 1/2 and adding it as a center coil. The outer diameter is 8". so I was thinking of coiling it at 6" maybe 4". it all depends on what I can find to shape the...

    immersion chiller

I just bought 50' of 1/2" OD copper tubing at Lowe's! I'll be building it up tonight. The 3/8" fittings fit nice on the 1/2"OD tubing. Before I start... is 50' too long for 5 gallon batches? I'll be rolling it up at 8" diameter. I just think it would be useless to have 1/2 the chiller sticking...

    bargain fittings

they don't leak at all however the only thing I don't like is that the bulkhead comes off when I try to remove my down tube because the bulkhead doesn't screw tight enough onto the coupler. I'd have to use pliers to tighten it up or maybe a thin lock washer but I don't want to scratch it up.

Also... What about the Avatars? I selected a picture but it doesn't show up when I post stuff.. is there a maximum file size? It's a cute picture of my 1 y/o son sucking on a bottle of Mooshead Lager. Thanks.
  11. This is my first Keggle construction.
I'm not planning on installing a sight glass nor a thermometer.

  13. This setup is super efficient for drainage! There was maybe an ounce of liquid left in the keg on my first test! Can't wait to brew with it!

    What are you drinking now?

I've been drinking a lot of this stuff to enlarge my collection of flip top bottles. It's actually cheaper for me to buy 4packs of Grolsch than buying empty flip top bottles at my local home brew shop. "Time to RANT" My local brew shop sells 500ml brown flip top bottles $3.59 EACH! I get the...

    immersion chiller

Thanks for the info. Home Depot doesn't stock a lot of sizes in soft copper. I managed to find 50' of 3/8" OD tubing and some compression fittings for garden hose attachments that actually fit. I just hope it will be solid and won't bend out of shape with regular use.

Good day, I'm trying to post pictures of my keg conversion but can't see any options to upload pictures. Do I have to create a website and then post links to it? or is this feature only for paying members? Thank you.

    Brewing with old grains

I've read multiple threads on this forum about grains and storage. Some people store them for a couple years. Myself, I purchase 25Kg bags and store them in my basement in storage bins. It's cool enough and the bins keep the humidity out.

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

hey! why not add a hinge on the tin box with a lid on it to cover the crushed grain output. I'm picturing something like a zippo lighter. but a larger scale. That will surely help reduce the mess and waste.
