What do you set your e-kettles on?

Thanks for the input everyone! Some really great ideas! The thought occurred to me this morning - would a concrete stepping stone stand up to the heat?

What do you set your e-kettles on?

"Running boards metal" makes any stand look pretty - yours included. Thanks for the idea. I'm thinking also of a large trivet - like antique maybe. Or also thought about buying a single granite or ceramic tile.

What do you set your e-kettles on?

I am building my stand and it will have a laminate top. I'm thinking I don't really want to set the BK directly on it. Looking for some ideas if you have any.

    Compound leaching from Plastic/PVC equipment

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but when I see the words: "...studies are showing..." without reference to the actual studies, that's when my alarm bells start going off. In other words, a few references would go a long way here.

    EZ Water Calculator 3.0

Can you change your excel to use decimals (periods) instead of commas? Maybe that's the problem. I don't know. When I enter your numbers this is what I get:

    EZ Water Calculator 3.0

It could be that your Arial font is a bit large for some reason. You could highlight the cell in question (F32) and change the font size from 20 down to something smaller. If that's not it, then download a fresh copy of the spreadsheet. In fact, I would recommend doing this anyway because...

Help me pick an element (or two)

Just curious why do you say to avoid the zinc plated elements? I just bought this one yesterday for the HLT (water only). It doesn't say but it looks zinc plated.

Help me pick an element (or two)

well Kal's site says minimum is 13.5 so I ordered one for my BK. I ordered a shorter 5500W HWD for the HLT because my HLT is only 13" dia and it will only be heating water so the HWD should be fine. Just can't run it dry from what I understand.

Help me pick an element (or two)

Thanks for the input. Looking at the Camco 5500W ULWD Ripple style, the specs say minimum tank dia 15", can someone confirm that for me??? My BK is right around 15". Thanks

Help me pick an element (or two)

I'm in the process of building my electric brewery and one thing I can't decide on is which elements to use. I will be needing: 1) One element for my 7.5 gallon aluminum HLT that will only be heating strike and sparge water. 2) One element for my 10 gallon aluminum BK. I do 6...

    PWM..Show us How

One thing that happened to me is the wall wort I was using for power turned out to be lower voltage than the 12V it was rated for. It would only power my test light solid. Once I hooked up another wall wort that truly did put out 12V, it worked as it was supposed to.

    Pneumatic Bottle Capper - Just...because.

Sorry - I couldn't resist! Anyway yes I just went with somewhere in the middle of stroke or actually near the end of it. I wanted the cylinder as high up as possible to provide room to load and unload the bottle and cap, but making sure that the cylinder did not hit the end of its stroke when...
