    Am I Screwed???!!!!

Ok. My first home brew, a Fat Tire clone from Midwest, is on its second week in the secondary. Everything went well while brewing it up and fermentation, and everything was sanitary. It looks good doesn’t smell bad. But I seem to still have a sharp medicinal taste. After searching through...

    Growing Hops?

I ordered 2 cascade and 2 hallertau from Midwest and planted them Sunday. I'll try them on the fence this year and if it works hooray, if not I will look into other ways. My power pole on the side of the house is looking tempting as there is some kind of vine on it now. Thanks for the...

    Dry-Hemping

If I were to theoretically do this on my next batch, which will be a porter, I think I would split off enough to fill a 1 gallon secondary. That way, a guy wouldn’t have to spend a crazy amount on “special hops”. Grind it up in a coffee grinder, steep it in a couple cups of water to sanitize...

    Brew Kit?

I just purchased the intermediate kit from Midwest with better bottles and racking ports. I couldn't be more happy. I am only on my first brew but have the ingredients for a second on the way. . Whatever you end up with, save the boxes the carboys come in. Cut the tabs off of the side you...

    adjunct grains for extract??

Its the clone from Midwest. It comes with steeping grains I thought maybe I could add some flaked wheat for better head retention? Not that it needs it, just to do something a little different I guess.

    adjunct grains for extract??

Is it possible to add grain adjuncts like flaked wheat or flakes oats to an extract brew? Or is this something only the AG or Partial mash guys can do? Sorry if this is a noob question but I’m kind of confused about what specialty grains you can experiment with. If I can add flaked wheat or...

    Brew Kit?

I have 50' of copper ready to build my chiller. Cost me $18 from a friend. A 50' chiller is $80 from Midwest.

    Brew Kit?

Probably to do with the size, but I could have added a beer kit or some other goodies to the order for the subtracted weight. Not too concerned as none of the other brewshops have kits with better bottles.

    Brew Kit?

Noob here. Here is what i'm ordering for my equipment kithttp://www.midwestsupplies.com/products/ProdByID.aspx?ProdID=6875. It’s the intermediate kit from Midwest. I have looked at most of the online brew shops and this, by far, seems to be the best bang for the buck. Along with that I...

    New here with Q's

My friend started out with a Mr.Beer and his first batch was pretty horrible, drinkable but horrible. Then it broke,(after his first batch) and he invested in good equipment and now brews excellent Beer. I have not heard many good things about them but I am by no means an expert.:mug:

    How to get good head?????

Ok, so basically cleaning and sanitizing my drinking hardware the same way I would clean my brewing hardware. I would have never thought of that. I did look through Midwest’s catalog and came across a few of the grains and adjuncts that you guys mentioned. Thank You Brew masters, if I would...
