    So I pitched this entire pint of sludge into the wort today. I assumed it had enough yeast in there that I didn't need to make a starter. How quickly will this go off? It's US05 by the way.

    Yeah, it's usually 80 here. It's possible I didn't allow the mash ton to warm up enough. I'll try to be more careful next time.

    Yeah it's about 20 degrees colder than normal. How much do you think body is going to be affected by this?

    I use an igloo cooler. I measured the temp after mixing the grains and I got 154F, my target temp. However, 45 mins later I decided to take a temp reading and it was at 148F. I have never seen this before. What did I do wrong?

    Another thing. I no longer see bubbles going up the walls of the flask. Does this mean fermentation is done? Should I stop the stir plate?

    I didn't really notice it getting lighter until after 24 hours. Yes it was shipped to me with an ice pack. I have a feeling that my fridge was on the colder side so maybe the yeast needed more time to wake up. Hopefully I have enough yeast even after losing some from the volcano action. I...
