    Coors Kegs

i just obtained 3 kegs, 1 straight, 2 bulge. If you have the option, using the bulge would be better for liquids and not the mash. So either the BK or HLT would be fine. I have read that you do sacrifice efficiency when your MLT is anything but a straight walled cylinder. my guess being that...

    source for BIG growlers?

that's funny, I've just heard about The Shep and am planning on going next week. seems like a good time. I've recently gone to The Coppermine in North Arlington, i belive. someone told me it's very similar to The Shep and always has different beers on tap than The Shep.

    source for BIG growlers?

sorry i should have clarified further. I dont plan to bottle condition these growlers...just fill them from the tap with carbed beer. the air tight issue i have is, after filled, if a friend puts it in the fridge and doesn't drink it for 3 days, hopefully the caps are tight enough to not seep...

    New Keezer question...

unfortunately yea, but it was just for about a week. i've since brought it down to 44 degrees to lager. all beers are def drinkable at this temp, although would be better slightly colder. thats y i'm excited to keg this pils soon and get back to normal. i'm keeping my eye out on craiglist...

    source for BIG growlers?

+1 on this. My LHBS sells a pack of 4, half gallon growlers for $15.99. I actually think that's a pretty good deal. What do you think? The only issue is they're clear glass. thoughts? also...they have those thin metal twist on caps. I could def see it not being air tight. does...

    New Keezer question...

i'm currently lagering 6 gals of Pilsner on the compressor hump in my keezer. In addition, i've got 5 corny's hooked up serving IPA, apa's and stout. during primary, i set temp to 50* and slowly rose it up to about 58*. since then i'm now letting it lager. i brought it back down to 50* and...

    3 sanke's - $70 craigs list

they had a bunch of kegs. all in pretty good shape. a few rust spots but could all be buffed out. probly another 7....unfortunately all bulge. Although they did have 2 of the straight ones that are covered in black rubber. Any use for those? only thing i can think of is fermenters...

    3 sanke's - $70 craigs list

so i picked them up....3 for $70. I was told they had a bunch of straight barrels but when i got there they only had 1 left. So i picked up that one and got two kegs that bulge and are fatter around the middle. with two of those and a straight barrel, anyone have any advise on which ones to...

    Blueberry Ale recipe?

it's been two years almost to the day since the last post here, but i just put a blueberry ale in the primary and am wondering about blueberry ratio. Does anyone have any new updates/experience on this? i'll blueberry the $hit out of it in the secondary if needed, but this is one of those...

    Starting my keezer!!

johnson digital A419...you can buy them on ebay for a little cheaper55-65 bucks, but with shipping, it comes close to value for a new one at midwest supplies. Without a warranty, I'd rather spend the extra few bucks for a new one, with warranty from midwest. i plan on keeping it for years...

    Lager - fridge or freezer?

I've read many different temps suggestions for lagering. I'm going to be making a Pilsner on Sat for the first time and have read that i should primary at 50-55F, and drop it down 10 degrees for secondary. Can someone shed a little light on the dif lagering temps and why? is it dependent on...

First brewday on DITCHES build - lots of beer porn!

sounds good. I'll give it a try myself...a little trial and error and see if i notice any change in clarity/ head retention. If not....i dont see any other reason to leave it in....

First brewday on DITCHES build - lots of beer porn!

when you recirculate back into the keg, is the inlet valve submerged below the wort level, or is it above? If above, maybe the increase in froth is due to increased air/oxygen contact. Also, i have nothing to back this up, but i've heard stirring the film back into the wort, therefore...

    55 Gallon Drums

so here's my next question... With a 55gal system(3 drum, single tier), I can make tons of wort and as long as I have a drinking crew that creates a demand for it, i'm good. but what about those times where i'm gonna be testing out new beer recipes. what if i want to make 15 gals, or even...

    55 Gallon Drums

all valid points.... i guess the lag time while pumping is good time to just get other stuff done/prep....overall it would be nicer to go a little larger and cut times down...when needed, but probably not worth the cost. thanks for the advise. i'm sure i'll have more questions to come.

    55 Gallon Drums

brewpal, This is all great info. Do you have any pro's/cons on the overall system. I'm currently concerned with the overall flow rate. recirculating doesn't seem to be a problem, but do you ever wish you had larger fittings for increased flow rates. I want to move up to 55g drum...
