    Cheap compact wort pump

Auggie, where do we find these $20 24v FDA compliant tan pumps. A search on ebay reveals a lot of them but none state they are made of FDA compliant materials or that they are food grade. Inquiring minds want to know. With regard to the expensive ($70) Topsflo TS5 series pumps, are they not...

A follow up question for those that grind their grain separately, do you change the setting of the mill for each? Nealm

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Santa (viz. SWMBO) brought a Corona mill sourced from I think Amazon. It certainly deserves the label junk. The auger plate is held on not by a cotter pin but a bent nail. The plate is fixed tightly to the auger and is not equidistant from the other plate, so it wobbles a bit when turned with...

Reflectix Wrap on MLT and BK

I wrap my electric boil kettle with reflectix without any problem of it melting, not even in the vicinity of the element. True, it would not be useful for a propane heated BK. Nealm Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

The 7.5 boil coil is only 2000 watts, it will be tough to boil a 5 gallon batch. Nealm Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Countertop Brutus 20

1650 watts will not boil 5 gallons of wort in a timely manner. I am using a 3000 watt 120v element and can boil 6.5 gallons. My ramp speed is a fraction less than 3 degrees/min. Nealm Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Brewtarget 2.0 Update

It's in version 2.1.0. My work around for now is to set the bk to fermenter losses to zero. It should be said that I think you are doing a great job on BT, it is a great program. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Brewtarget 2.0 Update

I was always coming up short on the OG when I entered recipes into BrewTarget from other sources where they define the OG, and other parameters. I always chalked this up to differences in the percent yields in the BT grains data base versus the data bases used to calculate the OG in the recipes...

    Different E-Brewery

As I stated above the 30A 120V GFCI breaker cost me $20 on eBay. I sourced nothing from Auber, except for a panel connector for for the rtd. Looking at the picture of my control panel you will see Mypin PID. The guts of the panel, SSRs, heat sinks, switches and indicator lights were all sourced...

    Different E-Brewery

Augiedoggy, It's economics. Since I do 5 gallon batches and have done so for the last 25 year I only needed 3000W to boil the 6.5 gal. Then, I found on eBay a 30A 120V GFCI breaker for my panel for $20. To go the 240V route would have cost around $75 ($15 for a 30a 240v breaker for my panel and...

    Different E-Brewery

I should add that no more lifting 5 gallons of hot water and worrying about whether I'll run out of propane. The worst case scenario not is moving the fermenter from the BK to the temp control chamber. I'm a happy camper.:ban: NealM

    Different E-Brewery

ddahl84, Finished phase one of my version of the " Different E-Brewery ." Phase one being the manual mode version without PID temperature control. I've done two runs so far, one a SMASH pale ale and the other a robust porter. Got efficiencies into the BK of 75 and 45 percentages respectively...
