    Soldering Stainless steel

Round Two! So I took the joint apart and I cleaned up the coupler and decided to do a pre-tin experiment on the coupler. I used my bench grinder on it to make sure I had a clean surface with no residue left from the sweating attempt and ensured I didn't overheat it or discolor it. Then I...

    Soldering Stainless steel

being a pretty good pipe swetter and a solder expert on electronics, i decided to try this method on one of my keggles as an experiment after reading this hole thread and looking at vids and pics (i made the conclusion it might be doable but was sceptical). ok so i made the dimple tool and...

    Extech PID controller

What ever your pid needs as power you can get a power supply for it from just about anywhere including one of those plug in universal cords just cut the end off it as long as it has the right rating. Wire positive of power source to ssr and wire ground from ssr through pid to power source ground.

    beersmith timer setup

I think your right it just might be less complicated that way but then your constantly checking your inventory to beersmith to make sure it accurate.

    beersmith timer setup

Ok i might be a little dumb when it comes to beersmith but i have to ask this question. How do you get what is in your shopping cart to your inventory after you buy it? or is it even a good idea to begin with. Ive noticed i can add things one at a time as i please and it will take them off...

    Extech PID controller

Sorry i should of saw that on data sheet. If you have an external power source to drive the ssr you can still use it though.

Thats a nice looking keggle you got! thanks for the info.

    The MaxOut Brew Station

What are the parts you used for the in line setup? Im assuming you used the same compression thru hole fitting for the thermo. Did you just use a threaded "t" to put it in line? and do you have problems with pressure from pumps with that thru hole commpression leaking?

    Extech PID controller

As long as your ssr is inside the current limit it should be fine. You can have a 12vdc output from pid and a 12 vdc input to ssr but ssr could have a 30milliamp min draw which will blow a 20milliamp output of your pid. Id check that as well.

new system build and need input

Your link didnt show up. Is your brewery a brutis 10 clone? im kinda leaning that way for this one. Ive hunted through these threads for days now and found all sorts of nice ideas but noone has any detail on parts etc. Hardly. Like where a good place to get thermocouples for the pids?

    The MaxOut Brew Station

Thanks that was what i was looking for. Have you considered putting the thermalcouples outside the keggle in line with the resirculating pipe? ive seen some setups like that and wonder if it would be as accurate as getting it into center of keggle. I was wondering if you looked into that as well...

    The MaxOut Brew Station

What kind of set up you using for your thermalcouples? Im starting a build and contimplating ways to setup the thermos on it. Are they set dirdctly in your mash ect. Or are they in thermocouple tubes and where on your system did you place them? very nice on the setup by the way.

new system build and need input

Im thinking it would be wise to keep some things manual. Im thinking of automating temp control for step mashing with a timer and sparging etc. Also anyone have the hookup on some decent quick disconnects, electric solinoids, pumps, and a burner. And if anyone has input on using stainless piping...

    beersmith timer setup

Thanks i went into it last night and realized that it adds it automaticly if you put the step time in the add ingredient part. I wasnt doing that. So i went through my recipes and edited the ingredients so it stuck them in the timer correctly.

    beersmith timer setup

I used the timer on a recipe that was in beersmiths database and it had a timer for each step in recipe including hop addi.g ect. Now the question is how u setup the thing for ur new recipe u put in

    beersmith timer setup

Ok. So you put a new recipe in beersmith. Now how do you set up the timer in your new recipe?

    Extech PID controller

What the control input to ssr specs. You only have 20 miliamps at less than 600 ohms impedence on output of pid. You need to make sure the ssr control inputs dont exceed that. If they do isolate it with a relay and seperate power supply. It is usually a good practice to isolate it anyway to save...

new system build and need input

Ok fellow brewing inthusiasts. I finally decided to get more automated and upgrade to a whole new system. I have a programmable pid and am having a base made now for a 3 keggle cooker side by side style cooking system. I plan on using pumps ect. And automating everything possible on this thing...

    Extech PID controller

Ive used a lot of controllers in my day and that one is a pretty simple one. depending on what you want to use it for it should work fine. just be aware of the output specs so you dont try to drive something with it that will blow the output. you might need to run an isolation relay between its...
