I built mine along the same lines as Hop's Knotty Pine build. It allows for air space around the freezer to allow the freezer to pull heat out through the skin. I put a couple of PC fans at the back just to help pull that warm air out of the casing of the keezer. Feel free to look at the link...

I just spaced mine out evenly along my coffin. Its a 24" board with 4 taps, so think I came out to 5" from the center line on the taps and had a 4.5" gap on the sides.

There are 2 versions of the 7.0cu ft GE freezer. One you get at Sams Club and it will NOT hold 4 on the floor. The other I think you get at Home Depot (but someone can correct me if that is wrong) and it WILL hold 4 on the floor. I have the Sams Club version and I can tell you that ball lock...

You could just look into an all electric setup. Would probably be easier in the long run.

Without trying to fuel a debate on if adding wood directly to the skin of a freezer hurts or helps or whatever... Most freezers will say in the specs how much space they require around the shell to allow for the heat to dissipate through the skin of the freezer. It is usually something like...

To attach the top to the lid I used liquid nails and bolts, washers and tee nuts. There is basically no chance that top is coming off the lid..lol. I am probably going to go back in and add some kind of bracing on the back that will help keep the freezer from being about to rock back and...

Thanks again for all the kind words all. On the break in, I am not sure the police can do much. It appears to have been the work of people with a fair amount of knowledge. No finger prints were left behind and I did not have the serial numbers of all my stuff. So my non-keezer advice to all...
