I just received two of the newer picopaks (Lake Michigan IPA and Netherworld). Both came with a different ale yeast and not 05 Yeah!! The yeast is Lallemand BRY-97 (West Coast Style Ale). Does any one have any experience with this yeast? If you have used it should I treat it as like 05 1/2...

    PicoPaks - REUSABLE?

I am assuming you used distilled water in the brewing keg a second time and if so how did you treat the water for the second run? Burton salts? I believe the pico packs contain the preferred water treatments for the beer style being brewed.

There are currently 68 PicoPaks available in the marketplace and that is up from 50 when the last kickstarter campaign ended in May. My guess is that number will keep increasing with the more Picos coming online.

Cold crashing helps clarify the beer before racking to a serving keg. Estimates vary for the length of time but most say at least 48 hours. It simply involves place the brew keg in the refrigerator. I haven't ever heard of an exact temperature.

I will let you know if it something different. My freestyle was based off their American IPA recipe. I changed the grains and hops based on a Two Hearted Clone recipe. The grains weren't an exact match. Two Hearted is however a single hopped IPA with centennial which they had. It was free so...

My freestyle is due to be delivered in a couple of days. But when I created it the default yeast was U-05 there were no other choices. I plan a liquid yeas t with my freestyle.

    PLAATO Versus PicoFerm

It measures exactly the same way as a PiooFerm and considering I will get 3 for a $100 from Pico. I think this is way over priced. CO2 pressure or flow and then an algorithm. It mentions you have to input the original gravity. You are non monitoring temp to Specic gravity without contact with...

I order a hose as well plus a check valve from Williams brewing. Looks like I paid an extra $6.00. Thanks a bunch :)

Check out the Weekend Brewer's website they have a fitting for a paintball tank that screws into the 3/8 fitting (same as the 16g cartridge). The 5/8 thread is for the 72g cartridges Weekend Brewer: https://www.theweekendbrewer.com/collections/keg-chargers

I would say, others may disagree, that the main differences are first how do you plan to carbonate and dispense your beer. Many homebrewers myself includes already have equipment that works with the ball lock kegs like the Pico S. You can carbonate and dispense from a refillable co2 vessels...

AB InBev minority holder in PicoBrew?

The first article appears to be written from the second. If the second article is accurate, what a minority investment is not defined. It could be very little or if could be up to 49. On the facebook page for Picobrewers Denny said the article is false based on conversations with the Picobrew...

Denny can you help me out. I have heard, maybe incorrectly, that the beer won't show the effects of Oxidation for a couple on months. So I was assuming that if consumed within a month that it would still be ok. You seem to indicate it would be sooner. I value your opinion.

JRB, Thanks for the info on Williams Sonoma. I will keep my eye for for that. The price differential then isn't worth going to the smaller keg.

This makes sense since oxidation is only a concern if you have it around for a long time. Do you have any experience with the torpedo kegs. A bit cheaper and smaller at 1.5 gallons. I am guessing with less head space forrce carbonation might take a bit longer.
