Mine sounded like pop in a glass. And take a SG reading. It goes slow and doesn't show much action.

    Cream Ale Fizzy Yellow Beer

Not to beat a dead horse but ya thats where the volume changes, if you put trub loss to 0 then the estimated preboil is the same as what you entered. Anywho, im gunna boil off for an hour and find my boil off volume, then go from here. Is there a reason you didn't allow for trub loss in your pre...

    Cream Ale Fizzy Yellow Beer

OK, after looking back n forth and back n forth..... I see that the extra .5 gallons comes in effect at the trub loss, with your 5.85 gallons your final bottled ammount (after trub loss) seems to be 4.5 gallons. as where if it was the calculated ammount 6.36 gallons, there would be 5 gallons...

    Cream Ale Fizzy Yellow Beer

Well im just messing around till my first day off work when I'm going to brew this. I saved the fizzy yellow beer beersmith file and put all the same ingredients in as was in the original. Matched everything else the same as well. Now I see that the preboil volume differs quite a bit and...

    Extra Hard Lemonade

I pitched the starter after about 4 hours. But I'm impatient. Couldn't hurt to leave it and do it the next day.

    Extra Hard Lemonade

    Extra Hard Lemonade

From experience I tried a full pack of yeast and it wouldn't take off. I'd make a starter with sugar (I also threw in apple juice) and after that gets going add about 100ml of the recipe ingredients at a time every couple hours. After you get a litre or so and it's going good, then add it to...

STC 1000 "Ebay" Temperature Controller Build

So this controller turns power off to heater or fridge? But isn't it bad to plug/unplug/plug a fridge in to short of time. Bad for compressor I thought? Anyone cooked a compressor using this?

Easy Stove-Top Pasteurizing - With Pics

I used EC 1118. The recipe uses ALOT of sugar. The acidic nature of the lemon is supposed to kill off the yeast early. But it doesn't always. Then you get high abv. So I'm just kinda being ready for worst case. After reading more I've got an idea. Gunna cold crash at right abv. Let it clear...

Easy Stove-Top Pasteurizing - With Pics

Ya if it stops the ferment. This recipe can apparently get a little carried away and go upwards of 15%+. Just wanna be prepared for the worst. If I back sweeten do I just add sugar to taste then bottle and pasteurize when ready?

Easy Stove-Top Pasteurizing - With Pics

Hey all. I've read a handful of pages here. Great stuff! If its already been asked then I apologize but I couldn't find it. Anyways here's my question. I'm making a hard lemonade and don't want it to go past about 9%. Will this method work for the hard lemonade? I want to carb it in bottle then...
