It will boil with the lid on.. About 2.5 gallons give or take now since the steep. So I can add the hops after I added all my extract even though it's not boiling after that ? And just come back and look at? And, stir every once in awhile?

Hat is the differences between OG and SG? First batch. The instructions tell me only the OG and FG. So, what is the purpose of the SG? And, when do I inply them?

3min until steeping done.. Got temp down 168.. Think I saved? Maybe?

Should have been between 150 to 165 max. Hit 175 for maybe 7min.. Beer type "American Amber"

Over shot it by five degrees. Shut eye off, moved pot off eye, have 6min left of steeping.. Did I screw it up? Don't won't to leech tannins in the wort. A little nervous now

Here's the thing... I'm using a SS pot. Will it still b ok to use the water?

I haven't got the water boiling yet. When it does start I'm going to let it do its thing for about an hour then start the brew. So, when that is done can I use the water I just boiled to start the brew as well? I only need 2.5 gallons of that H2O. Would that b ok?

If I boil a full pot of water for an hour.. I should be ok to start my brew, right? Or do I need to clean it after the boil of just WATER?

Just a little curious about this.. A buddy of mine is letting me barrow his 20q pot but, it aluminum. I know that SS pots are better, no worries of off flavored. Will that aluminum pot be is ok?

Is it ok for me to brew my first batch in an aluminum pot? Don't really have the money for a SS pot.
