I just came up with the same problem. I racked and bottled while leaving the film in the carboy. Did you taste it? Mine tasted strongly like alcohol, maybe due to the high fermenting temperatures???

I would only know because I went to both the other day ( lunch/dinner ):rockin:

Anybody been? I am a huge fan. They brew all their own and don't even serve liquor. Pretty good food as well...

I like DME except when I drop the bag on my bare foot and it turns to glue from the moisture:drunk:

I haven't bagged my hops yet, but I might start soon. I tends to be a pain to strain out when transferring. My funnel with the little screen insert gets clogged really quick. I tried using a grain bag in addition to the strainer. I just put the drain hose from my kettle in the bag and it catches...

I too enjoy extract brewing very much. I am not really to the point when I can create my own recipes yet, but once I am AG or at least mini mash will probably be the next step.

+1 on the universal stopper. It has a lip so i doubt i could push it through if i tried.

Looks like I'm in the same situation as you. My small kettle isnt cutting it and i'm considering a 7 gallon with fittings and a turkey burner. other than than I was considering stocking up on ingredients.

+1 for Stone Ruination. It's pretty extreme. Stone has quite a few good IPA's if I'm not mistaken.

I am gonna add on to this thread....... What if you used the full amount but only had 4 gallons? Would it produce off flavors or be overcarbed?

So when i was pouring my Hef wort in the primary, the screen in my funnel kept clogging very easily. I got irritated and pulled out the screen and poured the wort right in with the hop bits and all. I am really not too worried about this but just wondering what you all think the effect will be...

My first brew was a Light ale kit with Safale-04 dry yeast. My closet was about 75-80 degrees and I ended up with a cidery taste. I'm gonna leave it in the bottle longer to give the yeast some time, but I'm sure the temperature was my problem.

It attaches directly to a garden hose? I might just have to get one instead of wasting all that water...

I've had trouble with DME clumping up as I'm adding it. Why don't you like LME?
