Beer in a Bag + Engine.

Still giving great results from the bag. I disconnected it from the pump and just leave the bag on the counter. Not quite as good of a poor without the sparkler, but more than passable. I will be bagging half of my batches from now on. There is a supplier who is starting to sell bags...

    tube rims/herms idea

Here is a thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/electric-heating-element-rims-eherms-293810/ which is documenting the build. I have been brewing with it for about 3 years, it works really well. I am rebuilding to make it look more finished. Here is an old image of my brew setup. I...

    Heating Elements

The following uses pipe heating tape external to the pipe to raise temp (the heat tape can be wrapped). https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/electric-heating-element-rims-eherms-293810/ I use two for a total of 1248 watts on 120V, 10.4 Amps required.

    Electric Heating Element for RIMs/eHERMS

Here is the assembly for the pipe. 2 Tees, 2 Plugs, 1 18 inch pipe, 1 pipe heater, + insulation. The thermal fuse is to be attached in series with one of the leads and taped to the outside of the insulation.

    Electric Heating Element for RIMs/eHERMS

I have been using it with 2+ hour mash schedules for mashes of 5 and 10 gallon batches. From dough in to mash out largely unattended. It works well. The current system uses two different types of heat tape for a total of 1024 Watts, one test showed the system can raise 5 gallons of water...

    Looking for Heater Element Comparison

I might be missing the point, but 1) Heating element in the flow 2) Pipe Heater wrapped around the outside of the pipe 3) Magnetic Pipe wrapped with an induction coil 4) Pipe wrapped with a steam jacket (not electric ignore?). Of these, the first 3 are the simplest. The 1st one is the...

    Electric Heating Element for RIMs/eHERMS

Once I build my heater, I will be mounting the pair in a box, to make the setup a little nicer. To prevent overheating, I will put in series one the following thermal fuse on each heater, outside of the insulation. THERMAL FUSE 128C 10A AXIAL - SDF DF128S These are one shot use, but for...
