3-in-1 "Boil Kettle, Jacketed Chiller, Conical Fermenter" by Brewha

Yup. STC-1000 with 300W aquarium heater submersed in the liquid bath.

You're reasoning on switching back and forth is correct. I ramp up temperature by using an aquarium heater submersed in the glycol chiller bath. The glycol chiller and aquarium heater are plugged into a dual stage temperature controller that has heating & cooling functionality.

My reason for running it that way was to avoid running glycol. It saves you from screwing around and having to switch between municipal water and glycol for chilling, no worries about evaporating glycol mixture, no extra plumbing required, etc. If your water evaporates from the reservoir, just...

3-in-1 "Boil Kettle, Jacketed Chiller, Conical Fermenter" by Brewha

I only use the built in reservoir, and my pump runs continuously. I didn't bother with running a diverter valve - instead I chose to run the chiller at my desired fermentation temperature, and let it run through the jacket continuously.

I typically use my glycol chiller for this with the help of an aquarium heater in the chiller bath. My basement is about 55º in the winter, so I'm generally trying to raise the temperature and this works quite well. I am in the process of making a Berliner Weisse using the "Kettle Souring"...

Help: Brewha BIAC or "traditional Electric Brewery build"

Yes, you can transfer to the other fermenter as soon as you finish chilling in the conical.

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

I can assure you I have no affiliation with BREWHA... I'm simply a customer who took the time to read through the suggested blog posts before using my BIAC. I like to know what I'm doing before operating a $5000 piece of equipment. Anyway, I'm done with this thread. I'll continue happily...

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

Sure, having a manual wouldn't be a BAD idea, but I don't think it changes the fact that he is already providing that information. Sure, he may include a manual going forward, but would that have changed your opinion on how this situation should be dealt with? Also, he provided a perfectly...

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

It's funny how everyone complaining about the lack of communication hasn't actually dealt with BREWHA. If you read the other thread with all of the actual BREWHA owners posting in it, you'll see that the customer support and communication is excellent.

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

Like I said. It's not like you had to go looking for it - he sends you all of the information when you buy the rig.

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

Simply coincidence. The only reason I visit HBT is because it has the largest thread on the BIAC. It's a great product with great service. I have no problem supporting Nathan as the service I've received has been nothing but outstanding.

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

It wasn't "several" emails, it was ONE personal email that had multiple links to specific blog posts. IMO this is superior to a paper manual as it has the ability for more up-to-date information. In the end, he provides you with the information. If you decide to not look at it, or not follow...

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

This blog post covers exactly what you're talking about, and as I said before, Nathan emailed me with links to important sections of the blog when my BIAC shipped. http://brewhaequipment.com/blogs/brewinfo/14329765-preventing-deformation-in-your-fermentor And I'll copy/paste details since...

3-in-1 "Boil Kettle, Jacketed Chiller, Conical Fermenter" by Brewha

I'm not using the bowl anymore - I found it just a touch too small. I'm using a temporary rigid foam hood as of right now, but will be getting one bent from metal at some point.

3-in-1 "Boil Kettle, Jacketed Chiller, Conical Fermenter" by Brewha

I haven't had an issue with mine running water only. Not saying it won't be an issue at some point, but so far no sign of trouble.

What he is saying is to have less restriction on the "out" side of the vessel than you do on the "in" side. If you have a 1" inlet that's dropped down to a .5" outlet, you're going to be causing pressure buildup...pretty sure that's the point he was making. He said make sure that it CAN exit...

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

The user limiting the pressure before using it makes sense to me. As I've said previously - one person will configure this system different than the next person. BREWHA informs people of the operating pressures that the vessel is rated for, and expects that you will operate it within those...

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

Exactly. Yet it still can't withstand household water pressure and doesn't come with any sort of PRV built in. Why should a homebrew setup come with this equipment?
  19. J

    Failure of Brewha BIAC

It's normal practice to leave that part up to the end user in the brewery.. Take this tank for example - it has a port on the top for a PRV (Note: PRV not included). It also states that the tank is pressure rated to 15psi..do you think that they are including a device to ensure that you don't...
