    English Mild help

Never brewed with it. The guy at my brew store said the same thing, but he told me I should go for it so I did

    English Mild help

Right now it’s hanging out in my laundry room in the closet. Ambient temp is about 67. Rest of my house is kept at 70, but that room is always coolest. True temp control is on my list of next investments.

    English Mild help

I’ll keep it updated! My house smelled AMAZING when I was brewing this stuff last night. It smelled like a pretzel.

    English Mild help

I ended up adding 1lb biscuit.I know it’s a little heavy on the biscuit, but I wanted to get interesting and your idea sounded great! The whole concept of what’s considered a Mild or not definitely gets confusing. My final recipe ended up at a projected 1.042 OG (I hit it dead on which has...

    English Mild help

I have a break from responsibilities today so I figured why not turn it into a brew day. I’ve been wanted to brew an English Mild and figured why not. I’m planning on running to my home brew store in a couple hours. Below is the recipe I’m working on, but not sure if someone can help me tweek...

Looking to add to current equipment

I have a deep dislike for plastic goods in general, but that thread is giving me anxiety. I will likely splurge eventually and go stainless steel...

Looking to add to current equipment

You mean carboys dropping them and them shattering? I'm thinking maybe I would need the 20 gallon now to prevent boil over. I'm using a ten gallon one for 5 gallon batches and we are usually up to 8 gallons pre-boil. This hobby is becoming costly really quick

Looking to add to current equipment

Last question... If I am looking to brew 10 gallon batches, will that 15 gallon brew kettle be enough?

Looking to add to current equipment

After looking into it, you are right! I'd rather not spend 80 bucks on a keg when there are other options available. I am doing all grain and eventually will want a grain mill, however I have 2 brew stores within 20 minutes of me so I usually pick up my grain and mill on the same day. As for...

Looking to add to current equipment

I just brewed my 3rd batch of beer with my friend on Saturday. Now I'm looking to add to the equipment he already has. Below I'm listing the equipment I'm looking to purchase and questions about it: 1. 15 gallon SS Brew Tech Kettle. My friend and I are looking to do ten gallon batches since we...

    Cooling

I thought of this however I don’t have freezer space to do so. Luckily I have a family member getter rid of a nice sized freezer/fridge so that I will be able to do that soon

    Cooling

I let it run for a few minutes before checking the temp. When I checked it first it was at 72.5 which is the temp my house is so I let it run for a while and it just got warmer haha. The summers here are brutal. It will stay in the 90s soon and gets incredibly humid here. Nothing a little beer...

    Cooling

I just checked. It’s coming out slightly above 75 degrees and it had been raining this whole week so it has been slightly cooler than average. I imagine it will only get hotter from here.

    Cooling

These are good ideas. Unfortunately being in Florida, the groundwater is always warm, I tried using the hose last time I brewed and it took forever to cool. I think the best thing will be to get it to 100 and transfer to the ice. Thanks guys!

    Cooling

Yesterday was my 3rd time brewing. Everything went well until we had to cool the wort after the boil. We used an immersion cooler in the tub with an aquarium pump and 30 lbs of ice in my tub. All the ice melted before we even got down below 100 degrees. I had to pick up 30 lbs more of ice to get...

    Brewing Small Batches

I didn't even know SS made those small capacity fermenters. A few months down the road I plan on buying a 15 gallon brew kettle from them, and definitely one of these fermenters. I haven't kegged yet and neither has my friend so that's an entirely different topic I need to look at. I don't even...

    Brewing Small Batches

I am going on my 3rd brew now. I've brewed only with a buddy of mine, but would like to try some smaller trial batches in between our big brew days. We are brewing all grain 5 gallon batches, and I would love to do something around 2 gallon batches during the interim. Here are a few of the...
