    Dark strong braggot

Same thing with this, I'm not 100% on the final ABV, but it was an easy drinker. Than you go to stand up, and realize it's much stronger than the taste let on.

    Dark strong braggot

Very nice. This was admittedly my first experience fermenting honey except for a few times I added it to thin out a few ipas. It definitely opened me up to doing meads. Thinking a few traditional, than a bochet. Might bug some of you experienced in the way of the bee when I do start trying.

    Extract for Black IPA

Go with extra light extract. Like Revvy and GrogNerd said, you'll be able to tinker more. The only time I use anything other than extra light is when i use the 100% Marris Otter extract.

5 Tips For the Apartment Brewer

Oh man. Right now, my wife, very soon to be 2 year old and myself live in a small one bed one bath. This really hits home. Before that I was brewing in a studio that only had a small shower and a small 2 burner stove. Kitchen was too small for an oven even. In august we're moving into a bigger 2...

    I got better at this

I'm also on the homebrewing sub on Reddit and a few members keep it pretty much the same between the 2, like oldsock and priceless, but a majority on there are redditors first and homebrewers second. HBT is a bastion of hope on the Internet. Beer, the peacemaker.

    I got better at this

If I could go back and taste that first bottle from my first Mr. Beer 7 years back... Well, I don't know if I'd finish it. That being said, totally blown away by the fact I could make beer at home and not worry about the ATF. Super thrilling stuff. I too decided however, that there had to be a...

Dumbest Newbie Brewing Mistakes You've Made

I will consider this every brew day, but you can't make me wear shoes unless I'm on the clock. Hose clamps: yes. Shoes: your cut off.

Muntons Stout Best Before Jan 2010

Wow, what a ride this thread was. Congratulations on the brew. Someone gifted me a brewers best dry stout kit about a year ago and I was considering getting rid of it. The kit you guys did was far older so I think I'll brew it up. Had to cancel brew day this weekend initially since I decided to...

Naming a beer, does it matter?

I only name them once I have the details hammered out. As an example, I'm tweaking my ESB. I have it listed as "Bitter MKI" and "Bitter MKII". With this one, I know what I'm going to name it when it's done, Hawker Tempest. I don't always have a name before the finished beer is born, but this...

    Re Using Yeast...

It depends. I usually stick to more versatile strains so right now as far as a yeast bank is concerned , I have some S-05 and some Wyeast 1318. I can do all the styles I feel like with those 2, but If i was going to say do a belgian, I'd probably get an appropriate yeast. Most likely won't do...

What came in the mail for you today?

I do. "Hey babe, can we get a puppy?" "No we don't have the space or the money for that" "hey babe, can we get a kegarator?" "It's ramen and tight living for us!" EDIT: And ladies and gentlemen, it has JUST come to my attention, we are getting a 2 tap kegarator tomorrow. SWMBO is good to me.

What came in the mail for you today?

Including "treat yo self" is what convinced SWMBO, thanks

What came in the mail for you today?

Dang, good looking out though. Citra and Nelson are so good together if you mix em right. It's my go to APA/IPA combo. Might need to change it up to I can convince SWMBO it's economical to go for the pound

    Dark strong braggot

This came out amazing FWIW. Very complex flavor, it was dry stout upfront roast, and finished with a nice floral bitter citrus note. I just came across a bottle I forgot about and these notes are based on that bottle. Like I said before though, when I do this again, I think I may try WLP530 or...

    ESB Tweak

So after doing some more research here and elsewhere, this is where I am: Bitter MK II (Hawker Tempest when it's deemed finished) a Partial Mash Extra Special/Strong Bitter (English Pale Ale) by Kadozen Fermentables Amount Fermentable Maltster Use PPG Color 5.0 lb Maris Otter Pale (UK) Any...

What came in the mail for you today?

Where from? Good price? I was looking them up and the best price for a pound (just under a half kilo) was $42ish US

    Biscuit Flavor

Oh snap, in that case definitely nothing wrong with S-05. The whole bitter family of beers are easily my favorite style, the MO makes em. Let us know when you go at them again
