    Homebrew gives me idigestion. HELP!!

I have considered the filtering route. also gonna start with prilosec. Dr. will be last resort, just the way i am. However, thinking about filtering...I don't remember having a problem with commercial bottle conditioned beers. What else does filtering remove other than yeast?

    Death by Cork

Absolutely. This was intended as an experiment knowing full well the danger involved. The wax was used as an attempt to keep gases from passing thru the cork. It also makes a nice presentation. Of course, a pretty sealed wax bottle doesn't go very far when you've got cork embedded in your...

    Death by Cork

No, the 750s I refer to are champagne type bottles. Actually, they are the bottles that Boulevard Brewing Company uses for the beers that they offer in 750ml bottles. Rye on Rye, and long strange tripel are examples.

    Homebrew gives me idigestion. HELP!!

It's hard to define, but I would describe it as discomfort at the top of my stomach. Seems to be at the intersection of my stomach and esophagus. Not sure if you call it acid reflux/idigestion/heart burn, but it is along those lines.

    Homebrew gives me idigestion. HELP!!

I have brewed three batches of beer. 1. John Palmer's American Pale Ale (extract) 2. Scotch Ale (extract) 3. Robust Porter (AG) 1 and 3 give me indigestion most of the time that I drink them. I have been susceptible to indigestion at times in my life, but not often and not lately...

    Death by Cork

Update: We opened the bottle that I referred to in the initial post. It seemed to be a long way from actually expelling the cork. It still took quite a bit of pressure to get the cork from the bottle. Have your glass ready tho, cause this thing over flowed upon opening. i reckon this is not...

    Death by Cork

Interesting...I'm thinking of starting a gallon batch of mead. I'd like to start small to make sure I'm happy with the outcome before moving to a 5 gallon batch. I've got a friend locally that keeps bees and I'm working on trading the end product with him for an advance on the honey. let me...

    Death by Cork

I brewed a robust porter the week before Thanksgiving. If i remember right, the initial gravity was around 1.070, a bit bigger than beers I have previously made. For giggles we decided to bottle a few of them in belgian bottles and 750's sealed with a wine cork and dipped in sealing wax. We...

How many Extract batches before All Grain

two partial mashes and about six months. Took that long to gather the gear for all grain. Luckily I've got a cousin that donated advice, a new belgium barrel with top already cut out, and extra carboy. i was most of the way to all grain. I've found the quality of the beer you can make with...

    Home brew or comercial beer

I try hard not to be a beer snob. I am a new brewer with only three batches under my belt. I am most pleased with my recent all grain porter. I've been drinking some commercial beers as research to learn more about the different flavors out there, but can't afford to drink them regularly. I...

10-4. How long is too long to let the beer sit on the yeast? Is autolysis a concern? Thanks for the help.

    Porter recipe tweaking

I'm learning about Porters now. I just brewed a robust as my first AG recipe and the only commercially produced porter that I've had is from Bluegrass Brewing Company in Louisville. Heading to the store tonight to remedy that. My impression is that the black patent is probably responsible for...

    First all grain brew...long ferment

Hi guys I have two extract/adjunct brews under my belt that turned out good and decided to try an all grain batch. I have a cousin who has brewed for a few years and in recent months has been helping out at the Grimm Brothers Brewhouse in Loveland, CO. I'm grateful for his help. My first...

What size corks for belgian bottles?

So, if a belgian cork is 25.5mm and a # 9 wine cork is 24mm...why are they not interchangeable? Trying to get out of buying a new corker here.

    Bottling with 750's

I have read a few different posts involving bottling beer in Belgians and Champagne bottles and got some good information. However, my question is a bit different. I have a few bottles from the Boulevard Smokestack Series that I'd like to reuse. They came with Belgian corks and cages...
