Should I cut off shoots before planting

This afternoon I got a CTZ rhizome in the mail and it was covered in shoots some of which were about 6" long with leaves on them. I planted it the way it was, and now I'm wondering if I should have cut off all of the shoots first. Is it going to hurt my rhizome or does it matter at all?

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Vanilla Coffee Bean Blonde

Are you just throwing the coffee beans directly into the fermenter? or are you soaking them in vodka or something?

    Stuck fermentation? or what?

Thanks man, I'm just going to rack to secondary and see what happens. It might always be like this and I'd never know because I never take gravity readings before secondary, I just wait 2 weeks and transfer it. I've just never had US-05 stay at the top that long, that's what confused me. When I...

    Stuck fermentation? or what?

I made a porter with US-05, the OG was 1.057 and beersmith was estimating a GF of 1.015, but it's been 2 weeks and there's still a little bit of foam at the top and I just took a gravity reading and it's 1.020. I mashed at 156 for an hour. I also use a fermentation chamber with a fermwrap on...

What are these marks in my brand new SS pot?

That sounds like a great idea, I'll definitely try that.

What are these marks in my brand new SS pot?

Yep, those deposits were there before I drained the water out, looks like a RO system is the answer. Vinegar cleaned it out with a lot of scrubbing. It's not very shiny anymore though lol. I just couldn't imagine anything lighter than a green pad taking it off, it was stuck on there pretty good.

Damn, I just cleaned the entire thing with a green pad.

What is an unacceptable boil off rate?

I checked all my connections when I boiled, it only took me 12 minutes to get hot sink water to boil though, so no problems there. Thanks

What is an unacceptable boil off rate?

The pot is 20 gallons, and 16.5" tall.

What is an unacceptable boil off rate?

I'll try turning it down as much as I can, and see what happens, I don't want to complicate it by mashing with more water or building stuff, I'll save that as a last resort.

What is an unacceptable boil off rate?

Would that cause any retention of dms?

What is an unacceptable boil off rate?

To me it looked like a pretty low boil, but is it possible to boil too low? I'm sure I can turn it down and still maintain a boil.

What are these marks in my brand new SS pot?

Thanks, I guess I'll be buying a filter. Is there a way to safely clean it off?

What is an unacceptable boil off rate?

I just tested my new pot, with my new burner, the pot is 19.5" wide, and I kept the boil pretty low. I started with 8 gallons, and ended with with 4.25 gallons. is 3.75/hr acceptable? That seems crazy compared to my keggles 1.25/hr. Isn't that going to kill my efficiency?

What are these marks in my brand new SS pot?

I've only boiled water in it since I got it, and afterwards the water was kinda cloudy, and it has all these circular marks on the bottom. I took this picture after scrubbing with a green pad and pbw, the marks didn't seem to fade when scrubbing. Are they bad?

American Wheat Beer American Wheat Beer - 2nd place Best of show - 2011 HBT BJCP competition

I made this with wyeast 1010. Aside from not enough carbonation, it turned out great, it's pretty similar to windmere bros hefe.
