    Will yeast wake up?

Thanks to all of you for your time. I tasted it on Sunday when I did the SG test and it didn't strike me as overly sweet. But, I like beer on the sweeter side. Question: What would happen if I added some honey to it at this point? Thanks again,

    Will yeast wake up?

Hum, wonder if the kit yeast has something to do with it? Thanks, I had planned to leave it be for a month or so. It started at 70, don't know what it dropped to but it's back up to 70 now. Thanks for the reply

    Will yeast wake up?

I ran a batch of Munton's Nut Brown last week. It was fermenting fine in the garage but then we had a cold snap and the temp dropped. Not sure what the actual temp in the garage was but it seems that all activity stopped. I moved it inside but nothing. I just took a reading and it is at...

    Cheap Buckets

I just thought I would share a nice find. I have a salt water tank and remembered seeing the buckets that the salt comes in for sale at one of the aquarium stores. I recently went in to get water flipped one over and found that the buckets are food grade. They sell the 5 gal for $1.99 with...

    Just tasted MY first HB

It's for research purposes :p Plus I'll be using this to help me not touch my Blood Orange Hef. that's conditioning.

    Just tasted MY first HB

I just tasted the first bottle from my first batch. It is only a Mr. Beer Hef. I ran to get a feel for the process. It was just bottled bottled last week so it still has the banana smell and taste pretty green, but if it get's no better then this it's drinkable. I'm sure iv'e paid $8.00 or...

    Brew Kits (Secondary Fermenter question)

Yes as long as it has a top with a hole for a bung and airlock. That being said it seems there is a growing number of people that are skipping the secondary and leaving it in the primary the entire time. Good luck, Edit: Well they beat me to it with better explanations.

First bottling, I have a couple of questions

Wanted to add one more question to this. How long does carbonation take to develop? As I mentioned in another post I would like to drink one or so a week to see how the flavors develop, but would like to a least wait until it is carbonated. Thanks, :fro:

First bottling, I have a couple of questions

Well I got my first batch in bottles (10 to be exact). Since it was only a gallon it was easy to do. But I have a few questions. For those of you that have gone to a single vessel do you rack into another container to bottle to get the cake off the bottom? If you dissolve your priming...

    Conditioning question

Thanks, this was my first batch so I was just trying to get a feel for everything. I plan on letting it sit for as long as I can stand it. :D I will probably drink a bottle a week for the first few weeks to get a good idea of how the taste change. That should hold me over until my Blood...

    Water Volume Question

I am a total noob, but from what I gather that should be fine. It seems that full boils are ideal but you can do partial (half or more) and top off with the rest. It will also help to cool it some. Good luck, :fro:

    Conditioning question

I made a batch of Mr. Beer Weizenbier with a Hef yeast 2 weeks ago. I racked it into a 1 gallon bottle last week. Being a Hef. and such a small amount should I still wait 2 weeks for conditioning or can it go into bottles this week? Thanks :fro:

    Couple questions I couldn't find...

Yes it will settle in the bottom. Move your vessel up to the place your going to rack from the night before so it can settle back down before your rack/bottle. Put your racking cane about 2/3rd down into the fermenter to start and work it down as needed once you start bottling. Your last few...

First Batch (kinda) Blood Orange Hef.

Thanks for the reply. Oh I did! Once the boil was done I cooled it to 70, put it in the bucket, added the fruit and water and covered it until the I pitched the yeast. Thanks again, :fro:

First Batch (kinda) Blood Orange Hef.

Any answers as to if I did the boil correctly?

How much yeast for 1 gallon

I just did a 1 gallon and my LHBS recommended 1/5. Or a double pitch. It's still in the secondary so I don't know how it taste yet, but it did ferment. Good luck,

First Batch (kinda) Blood Orange Hef.

Yesterday I did my first batch will a full boil, malt extract and hops. Wife and kids were out and football was on, which made for a quite relaxing afternoon. I was really intrigued by the Blood Orange Hef. so I decided to run a half batch. Since gluten free is not an issue for me I used wheat...
