Demijohn / Must / Produce Pics!

I love this as it really gives you a feel of different processes that different brewers use to make their wines (which will effect the finished product)! I will finish off my step by step pictorial process of making my favourite brew, Cranberry and Raisin Champagne tomorrow, so Ill put that...

Why arent fruit wines sold commercially (much)?!

I really don't understand why commercial wine (in the main) has to be made from grapes! I live in the UK (where we don't have many vineyards and much wine making), but I have been making rhubarb wine (often with other fruit / juices) added, and they are absolutely great! As we all know here...

    Campden in Champagne?!

I made 4.5L of some really nice apple wine (500g rhubarb, 500ml white grape juice & 3Kg Cox Apples). As I used Cox, the wine is at SG 1.000 but has a really sweet taste. I therefore think that it would be really nice making it into a champagne, but once the fermentation had finished (about a...

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm definitely going to trial different yeasts now! Are certifying yeasts better fr white and reds or is it more specific than that?

    Yeast is yeast... Surely?!

I haven't yet experimented with the various yeasts on the market. I know many wine makers would say that yeast is the most important ingredient for fermentation, but does it really make that much difference to flavour, especially in wine making?! (I know that certain types will allow a higher...

Virtual Wine Circle? Will this work?!

Im a really keen home brewer, and love all things home brew, and have read about the old "wine circles" where people would meet on a regular basis with their new tipples, and try each others brews. It sounds such a great way of getting to taste new recipes and techniques. With the decline in...

We have all seen recipes for leaves from Oak and Beech trees and blackberry bushes and flower wines from various plants, but I am just not convinced of these, so wondered if anyone had tried any of the classic recipes for these wines and if they are worth doing? I have tried making dandelion...
