Just got back from entering this in my local club IPA competition and everyone liked the beer although the judges were split on hop level. I'm with TheJadedDog on this, good hop level for me but hopheads will want to add more hops.

I made mine this week as well (with the thin blade, then grinding to round it out because I didn't build a jig, then a flapper wheel to sand it down). it is nice and smooth now, at least smooth enough to not cut me. the video was a huge help in how to cut it, thanks for making it!

just got home from a local homebrew club meeting where we judged IPAs. flight of 10 and it was my first time competing. glad i had a ride home! now to pass out.

Thanks for the help. I'm also doing a boiling water rinse (first time with a new-to-me kettle, so BKF to get rid of stains, then a boil to get a feel for boil off rate). First batch tomorrow morning hopefully

I used some bar keepers friend on the inside of my kettle to clean it up. Do I need to do anything to make the surface ready to use (aside from just rinsing with a lot of water), or can I just boil in it now? Clean with PBW?

What is the best way to set up a blow off tube for the 6 gallon BB? I don't have any giant tubing that will plug up the mouth of the carboy. Should I just put tubing on the middle part of my 3 piece airlock or try to make something better? (Starting a hefe this weekend)

Just tried my attempt at this yesterday as I put it in the keg and I like it. Now I just have to fight the urge to drink it all right away and actually let it age a bit. (only thing I changed was used Cal Ale yeast instead and went a bit longer on primary and secondary because I'm too lazy...

Definitely one of the best parts of homebrewing is having someone appreciate what you're sharing with them. It is one of my favorite feelings.

My wife has much broader tastes, she'll drink all of the versions, not just the peach! other than that, she'll just smell my beers (loves the smell of hops) but hates to drink any of them.

I just use regular paper too. I think its just since it isn't ink it is less likely to run. (I only use laser because that is what I have at work).

I print on a color laser printer and then use a glue stick to stick them to the bottles. The color doesn't run when wet, and the label stays on OK in ice. Doesn't take too much work to get off either.

I'm probably seeing it this weekend, but on Tuesday my friends and I watched the '86 cartoon movie instead. Not quite the same though.

my boss is out of town this week, and I don't have much to do at work. I'm thinking of "telecommuting" for a 5 day weekend. At minimum, I'm taking off friday. Kegs and new ingredients are arriving then and I don't want to wait until saturday to start playing with new toys.
