Out of ideas.....What would you brew?

Hmm put it all in a big pot and shoot for the moon as far as gravity. Then add fruit, and vanilla, and chocolate, and maybe a steak :). For real, a wee heavy, or a Pliny the Elder.

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

+2 Racked on to the fruit this weekend. Tasted the gravity sample and without the fruit this is a very tasty beer. Bottling in 2 weeks as per the recipe then I will be ready to ship.

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

I was singing "Jingle Bells" while brewing, that seemed to help a little bit.

Quick help please - brewing now

The number from Beersimith 2.0 sound right. In your mash the grains absorb some water, then you have some dead space and so forth. For reference yesterday I had a 13 pound grain bill for a 5.5 gallon batch yesterday. Mashed with 4.06 gallons, and sparged with 4.58 gallons, total boil volume of...

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

So the fruit cake beer is fermenting away. I hope it is OK cause about 5 minutes left in the cool down it started to rain pretty good. I kept everything covered the best I could but I know some rain got in there. At least the beer will have a true taste of the rockies, or something like that...

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Well I bought all my ingredients today, and I am in.

Yeah if a couple people are close to exchange then that would help out a bunch. The $15 amount I think is the worst case for shipping across country.

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

So just some quick checking on UPS and FedEx, about $15 to go from CO to PA. Assumed a package weight of 5 pounds, and PA seemed to be the furthest. This results in a total shipping cost of $165 for 11 shipments.

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

I think if we can do 3 each that would be awesome. I know shipping is gonna be a bit of a hassle but it will still be fun. I am getting my ingredients tomorrow and should have the beer fermenting this weekend. With the Fruitcake Old Ale my plan is to primary it for 3ish weeks, the secondary with...

Bayou Burner using lots of propane

Yeah I have heard, and experienced, that the Blue Rhino tanks are not always as full as they should be. They tend to be lighter after the exchange then after I get them filled at the local hardware store. As for the gas you are using, do you keep the burner on at full blast for the full boil...

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Well I couldn't find amber malt at Austin homebrew, other then extract. I didn't think my LHBS had it either, as all I could find was amber extract but I just can't read and amber malt grain was there. I wasn't sure if there was a straight amber malt grain, but since there is please ignore me...

Thanks for the recipe. Quick question on the amber malt. I can't seem to find an amber malt base grain, do I need to use 3lbs of extract?

After researching the recipes a little bit please put my name on the Fruitcake Old Ale.

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Just started all grain but I would love to do this. I think I can do any of these four. 1) Caramel Quadrupel 2) Spiced Cherry Dubbel 5)Fruitcake Old Ale 12) Abbey Weizen I would prefer to do the Caramel Quad, or the Fruitcake Old Ale. So how many bottles of each would we get, 2 or 3?

Irish Red Ale Quaffable Irish Red (All Grain) Scrapper's

Well my first all grain with this recipe went great. I hit all the numbers, mash temp, pre-boil gravity, post boil gravity, and total volume. So now to wait a while and see how it tastes. Thanks a lot for the recipe! P.S. oh yeah I did the low hops version.

Irish Red Ale Quaffable Irish Red (All Grain) Scrapper's

Well I am going to try making this all grain this weekend, but I messed up at the LHBS. Instead of the Special Roast, I grabbed the Special "B". It will still be beer, but I am thinking it will be darker, and I am not sure what else.

    Something In My Beer

Well you actually want the yeast in the bottles, since that is what carbs it up. The yeast eat the small amount of sugar you prime with and make CO2. They then go dormant and fall to the bottom. So with out yeast in the bottle no carbonation. Note this is only true for carbonating in the bottle.

American IPA Dogfish Head 60 Minute Clone (AG) & Extract

Pretty happy so far. Brewed the extract version last weekend and hit the OG dead on. Checked it today and I am at 1.016 so I am very happy. The sample tasted very good, even the wife enjoyed it. However it was very cloudy, and I used Irish moss. Right now I am planning on leaving it in the...
