Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Had the Juniper Rye Bock earlier today. That was a very good beer. Poured with just the right amount of carbonation ending with about a quarter inch of head that dissolved slowly while drinking. This beer was incredibly smooth and had a wonderful taste to it. Wish I could describe it better but...

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Just got home and cracked open the spiced cherry dubble. I am writing this in more of a stream of consciousness while I drink it. First I took a deep breath as I opened the bottle, strong, strong cherry smell with a hint of the malt. I am drinking out of a St. Bernardus snifter that I got for...

Yep Scruffy did ship for sure. Hopefully the remaining two can also get around to shipping as well. Still can not wait to start drinking these.

Got my package Scruffy, thanks a bunch! Presentation rivals Xcorpia, just so everyone else knows what to look forward to. Also the addition was delicious thanks for that.

Munich Helles Dead Guy Clone (Extract & AG- see note)

I checked my hydrometers this morning and both read 1.000 in tap water @ 60F. I also work in a calibration lab and have access to a temperature calibration fixture and checked my thermometer today and it reads +1C +/-.05C high. I measured my mash temp @ 158, which with the calibration is...

Thanks for the review rhoadsrage, I am glad the beer was able to help brighten your evening. And you certainly do have a way with words. I will be breaking into my stash Christmas day I can not wait based on the reviews I have read so far.

Munich Helles Dead Guy Clone (Extract & AG- see note)

I think I need to calibrate my thermometer just checked the gravity and the beer is at 1.008, super dry. The sample tasted ok but not the malt bomb I was hoping for. Also the Pliny clone I did the same day finished at 1.004.

Yeah I would say we are getting very close to the last day for shipment for me as well. I know in my case if the final three aren't out by tomorrow I would prefer to receive them sometime after Christmas.

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Just curious if anyone had received a package from me yet, it has been a week and a half and I want to make sure things are getting where they need to be, and the shipping place didn't give me any tracking info. Thanks!

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Well all the old fruitcake ale is in the mail. I wasn't able to get tracking numbers but the packages should be there in the next 2 weeks.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Samhain Pumpkin Ale

I finished right about 1.008 with Denny's 50, but I ended up mashing low because of my first time using rice hulls and not pre-heating enough.

I want to buy an outside burner and between these 2

I currently have the SP10, and it is a good burner, however I use a keggle and it does not fit very well. I have a circle grill grate that I put on first to enlarge the surface area and that works fairly well. Also I haven't done a 10 gallon batch yet but the burner doesn't seem very stable with...

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

The old ale is finished, bottled and ready to ship when everyone is ready. I tasted one of them last night since it has been in the bottle about 5 weeks. Tastes pretty good I think, the fruit is there but not as strong as I thought it would be. Has a good amount of alcohol, I was feeling it...

    Going to albaquerque nm suggestions?

There are several decent microbreweries in Alb. Marble Brewery downtown, 1st and Marble, is fairly good. Chama River, Jefferson & I25, has good food and some really good beer. Hallenbrick is a fairly small place that was getting started when I moved and they had a lot of good beer, 3817 Hawkins...

Do you want to brew one of the 12 beers of Christmas?

Well the fruitcake old ale is bottled and ready to go when ever we ship. Ended up with 43 bottles damn fruit drinking all my beer. But I would still like to ship 3 if possible.

    1st all-grain,BIAB, RIS...Crazy?!?!

Your volume calculations were probably right on, it just takes a lot of water to suspend the sugars. For a normal mash (not BIAB because I haven't researched that method) with the grain bill you have listed you are looking at ~6.5 gallons for mashing alone, then to batch sparge it is best to use...

    1st all-grain,BIAB, RIS...Crazy?!?!

yeah if you just dumped the 2 gallons that is exactly where the extra sugars went. That is one of the tough aspects of a high gravity brew. To get enough water to extract all the sugars you end up with a lot you have to boil off, in your case 2 extra gallons. If those 2 extra gallons were boiled...
