    Thanks for the recommendations. The itinerary is loose so I'll try to include as much as I can. That's exactly what I was thinking. My mind was racing with the possibilities but this trip is for four, not just one. Hey kids, wait until you see THIS brewery! ;)

    This will be the first time in SD for the whole family. We're really looking forward to it. The main point of the trip is a fossil dig. It doesn't get more local than that. Not being acquainted, I'd feel obligated to replace those beers with something interesting from St. Louis.

    That was fast! We'll be passing through Sioux Falls twice unless I can convince my wife to detour through Ft. Collins. I'll definitely time it as to facilitate a stop at Monk's. I'll check out as many places as the schedule will allow. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    I'm heading to SD in early June for a family vacation. We'll primarily be in the Belle Fourche area but making our way around the state. Anyone have recommendations for breweries or beer bars?

    I finally made it to the end of this thread. So many of these examples irritate me too, even though I'm guilty of uttering several of them. One that I didn't see was using loose in place of lose. If I loose my beer again I'm going to completely loose it.

    2nd Shift Liquid Spiritual Delight. Big, smooth, and chocolaty imperial stout. The label says think Pam Grier circa 1974.

    Just a quick update. I bottled both beers today and everything seemed ok. Final gravities were good and used a priming calculator for bottling. Only thing to do now is wait. Will they condition faster if I look at them three times a day? Thanks again for the advice.

    American Porter Edmund Fitzgerald Clone (AG)

    Looks like I'm late to this party but I just bottled this one today. It tasted pretty good flat. Can't wait to see how a few weeks treats it. I used MO as the base and substituted fuggles for the Willamette. Had a few of the real Edmunds in Chicago but can't get them here. Thanks for the recipe!

    Thanks all for encouraging the noob. For residual CO2 I use the highest temp reached during fermentation? My first ever batch was horribly over-carbed. That was due to following kit instructions without verifying actual volume.(stupid oversight).

    I got the beer moved upstairs and it's sitting happily in the mid sixties. I'm planning on a three week primary which would give it 11 more days to clean up. Any other suggestions besides wait?

    Thanks again! Looks like I'll have to check all the closets for a sweet spot. Linen closet? Bah, fermentation chamber.

    Thanks for the feedback. I was worried about off flavors from being too warm originally. I'm past vigorous fermentation now, would moving to 69 -70 degree range be ok?
