    South Dakota Beer?

Here's a post trip wrap up. Sioux Falls: Monk's for some Gandy Dancer IPA and Phillips Diner. We hit the corn palace and Wall drug on the way to Hot Springs. Went to the mammoth site which was very cool. Ate at woolly's and tried their house brewed beer when they were out of pile o dirt (not...

Crow Peak from the source. Pile o dirt, 11th hour, pile o dirt. That is one delicious porter.

    What are you drinking now?

I made a call before we went. We knew what the deal was and it was my wife's idea to wait while I had beer. If I'm ever back through, Monk's is on the list. Unfortunately I don't remember the guys name at Miner. I would definitely recommend them to anyone traveling in the area. Thanks again...

    What are you drinking now?

I'm looking forward to it. I'll try them all repeatedly. I made it but didn't know Monk's was not family tolerant. My wife and kids sat outside on a bench while I had a sample and got a growler. We really liked your fair city. We hit Miner Brewing in Hill City on Monday. All their beers were...

Best commercial beer bottles for homebrew

I put some apfelwein in 12 oz. smokestack series bottles at 5 volumes with no problems. Great shape too.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'll have to try lower carbonation and still on the next batch. I'm saving the rest of this one for a party at the end of July. It will be about 3 months in the bottle by then.

    What are you drinking now?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

My first apfelwein. I carbonated this one to five volumes. It turned out very champagne-like, nice fine bubbles. It's still a little young but patience is a virtue I'm working on.

    What are you drinking now?

Great review! I missed the dog barking and leather/denim b.o. aromas in mine; I did get a distinct thunder and wet lawn smell. I'll never have another without your tasting notes in mind.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I did my second brew of this two weeks ago but the first time using 3711. It smelled great a few days in but when I pulled a gravity sample yesterday it had a strong sulfur odor. The SG was 1.002 and I was planning on bottling next Saturday. Should I bother if the sulfur smell hasn't dissipated...

    What the heck fun facts.

Apparently I don't internet well. With a cursory check I could avoided showing my ignorance. I am a little less ignorant now for having read these posts. Thanks and cheers!

    What the heck fun facts.

Guess I should have checked dark side surface temperature first. Whoops!
