Mash pH took an hour to equalize

Took me a while but I finally got to testing stability. Did it during my brew day today. Calibrated at the beginning of my mash. 20 minutes into my mash - 3.98 20 minutes later - 3.99 20 minutes later - 4.00 but slowly dropped to 3.98 after the hour glass went away as I left it in the solution...

For those looking to buy and have an android tablet, he removed the app from the play store because of knew guidelines for apps. Sounds like it was screwing up the app. So you now have to download the AFK file from his site. I think all tablets should be able to do this. You may have to...

    Obnoxious Football Trash Talk Thread

They are one of my favorites and only 10 minutes from me. Linesider is a good one too. A good diverse selection of styles instead of NEIPAs and stouts

Yeah the options within walking distance are limited. Hopefully the RI Brew Bus will have more runs going and have pick up at hotels. That would be a nice option for people. Even though breweries aren't within walking distance, there are a lot within a quick drive. Perfect for the Brew Bus.

Providence doesn't have a ton of breweries but there are a lot within a 15 minute drive. Apponaug, Foolproof (not the best but decent), Long Live (just moved to a much bigger location), Proclamation, Linesider (50% owned by Dan Koppen), Smug, to name a few. There are more great ones but those...

    Clean in place

I do a lot of the same. Just brewed my first batch in almost a year after moving twice. Made a few errors and still need to get my brew room the way I want it but it went well. I did miss the opportunity to spund though. I usually transfer with 1°Bx left but there was .5°Bx. Don't think it...

I agree. I like reading some of their stuff but I find people take their results as gospel. I take them as very anecdotal. They do say the results shouldn't be taken too seriously so it isnt necessarily their fault. Anyway, I went through a similar thing about 2 years ago. My beers were all...

This is why hot side cleaning is needed http://brulosophy.com/2014/11/13/problem-identification-or-helping-a-buddy-stay-in-the-hobby/

Yeah it is expensive to just remove threads from the pump but I figure I've already spent so much I might as well finish it

Sub pump for cleaning lines and circulating chiller water

Never been more excited to buy something just for cleaning Side question, what is walk in serving in your signature?

Sub pump for cleaning lines and circulating chiller water

I like this idea. I didn't like having to connect a tube from one faucet to another to daisy chain them. It worked just fine but didn't seem like the best option (though I didn't know what a better option was). Glad I saw this post again. Right now I have 3 faucets but will eventually get...

I hate threads. I've probably spent over $300 on TC fittings and quick disconnects just to remove threads from my system. I still have three. Two on my pump and one on my mash recirculating arm. At some point I'll replace the pump head with...

    Brew-Boss Opinions

For those looking at efficiency, I wouldn't use brew house or mash efficiency. I've always hated those two figures. The best figure to look at is conversion. That is all you really need to know. The reason I don't like BH efficiency is because it doesn't tell you much. You could have 98%...

Sub pump for cleaning lines and circulating chiller water

I've been daisy chaining them all. Using the Brew Hardware ball lock connection and using tubing from faucet to faucet. By the time it exits the last faucet (3 faucets total), it isn't coming out fast. So if I went with a manifold, it would go through all lines quicker even though it needs...

I'd like to be able to tell you that you should be fine but I can tell you from first hand experience that things find there way into the littlest places inside the pump. I do the same thing as you do with recirculating. Originally I recirculated with PBW and never took apart my pump. The...

    Treehouse Brewing Julius Clone

They already got into some legal trouble with too much waste. I highly doubt they filter the taps and definitely don't filter the water foundation. Even if they did, all it would tell us is that they filter their water. It wouldn't tell us what minerals they add to each different beer.

I take everything about after every brew. I have all TC fittings except two TC threaded fittings on my chugger pump (which I always forget to take apart because I forget about them). I have two EZ Clean TC valves which I take apart every brew. I am very OCD with cleaning which is why I had...

Mash pH took an hour to equalize

So really in-depth info! Thank you. Just did a stability test in 4.01. I did four tests. The first one was a fail but that could be user error. It took about 40 seconds to calibrate to 4.01. The first test never reached 4.01 again. The second test reached 4.01 in 50 seconds. The third...
