    LODO and BIAB

Most German breweries brew low oxygen. Not sure about other countries. Most US breweries don't. The reason I brew low oxygen is because I really don't love most of the beers my local breweries are putting out. They taste like the beers I used to brew before low oxygen. By no means are they...

    LODO and BIAB

I remember reading a thread about this on the low oxygen site. The person that started it said they were getting some gunk in the water doing this yeast method. Do you notice this affecting the water or clarity of the beer at all? I'd like to try this method out. For some reason I just hate...

    Homemade PBW Recipe

Would you mind linking the Amazon pages for those two? I found one for percarbonate but not sure if they are reputable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074D9F3V3/?coliid=I4M6Q7FD36N11&colid=1F7CTSE21E1R0&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it). I also found one for metasilicate but it seems expensive. TSP/90...

    Homemade PBW Recipe

What are you using for home made now? I've tried to follow the thread but there are so many ingredients being said, my head is spinning. I did follow the original one but that bucket is running out. Wondering whether I should make more DIY version or just buy PBW. If you like what you are...

Did you ever test PBW vs home made?

Accuflex Ultra 235 vs Kegland EVA barrier

This can't be recommended enough. Always go with these fittings unless your system can't fit the push connector fittings (like a tower) or you can't afford them.

BeerSmith 2.0 not calculating extract gravity correctly

That did it. I had to mess around with steeping efficiency until I got what I calculated for crystal 60 using Palmer's list. I also had to adjust some grain potential on BS to get it correct for steeping grains. I'm going to measure the gravity after steeping to see if I was close. Steeping...

BeerSmith 2.0 not calculating extract gravity correctly

Neither extract nor partial mash calculate steeping grains correctly, unless I need to select something. BS calculates the grains I'm using with 2 points but using John Palmers grain list, I get 6 points. So that would make my final gravity even more off when I add in my above problem

BeerSmith 2.0 not calculating extract gravity correctly

I normally brew AG but decided to try extract again for fun. Trying to use BeerSmith to get my volume and gravity readings. Volume seems to be right on but it seems like BS calculates extract gravity incorrectly (at least I think it does). I'll be using 6 pounds of DME. My post boil volume...

Accuflex Ultra 235 vs Kegland EVA barrier

Did you let all the new connections and tubing drop to serving temp?

Accuflex Ultra 235 vs Kegland EVA barrier

I was getting about 3.5' from calculations. I started at 5' and was going to cut shorter from there. I found 5' to be perfect for 11psi at 38°F. I was getting just about 9 seconds per pour. So I just kept it

    Spunding question

Few things to remember with using a FFT. Stir plate will cause the FG to end a few points lower then your actual batch. Swirling will cause the FG to end a point or two lower than your actual batch. I just let it sit and swirl it maybe twice a day just to get the yeast back up. You also may...

Accuflex Ultra 235 vs Kegland EVA barrier

I've been using 5ft of the 4mm EVA at 11psi and love it. John Guest and DuoTight are interchangeable. Any push connection will work as long as you get the right OD sizing. I use the ones from Fresh Water Systems. Shank adapter...

Accuflex Ultra 235 vs Kegland EVA barrier

I just used the new lines yesterday. I have the 4mm. To determine line length I use length = (pressure - (height x .5) -1) / resistance. Using 11psi, I get almost 5ft of line. This was perfect. Pouring into a pint glass, I was getting between 8 and 9 seconds. I didn't have any issues with...

Accuflex Ultra 235 vs Kegland EVA barrier

I know this thread is a month old. Was searching for EVABarrier and saw this post. I have the Bevseal tubing and like it besides the stiffness and length needed. I just bought EVABarrier for my new keezer. Will be using it this weekend. Anyway, to make a 90° bend from the shank you would...

    Spunding question

I didn't either until I tried to put one of my beer dip tubes into the new post. Then I realized why the dip tube has to be perfectly in the center to drop into place. It made complete sense once I figured it out.

    Spunding question

I bought it from Williams Brewing. My coworker actually did it for me. I was trying but didn't have the right bit. He just used a regular metal cutting bit on a drill press. I forgot the size but I will ask him. The only problem is the dip tube inside doesn't go outside of the threaded part...

    Spunding question

The yeast can be a problem especially if you transfer a lot over (depending on where your fermentor dip tube is) and if you transfer a little too early. I had mixed experiences with clear beer (actual clear beer not the clear beer system). Some beers would be super clear like they were...

    Show us your Kegerator

Replying to an old post...do you remember where you bought that drip tray? Just upgraded to a 14 cu ft keezer and need a long tray.
