Mash pH took an hour to equalize

Perfect, so my final mash pH wasn't that far off from the estimate.

Mash pH took an hour to equalize

Interesting! That is good to know. I always thought mash pH was hit near the 15 minute mark.

    Clean in place

Right, that is what I was thinking. So then what is really the point of CIP for home brewing?

Mash pH took an hour to equalize

Could it be because I did a step mash? Seems odd that it took an hour to level out. So would my mash pH be 5.34 since that is what it settled out at even though it was later in the mash?

    Clean in place

When I clean my e-BIAB kettle, I have to dumb all the trub out and then recirculate cleaner through and then water to rinse and I still rinse all the parts. How do you remove the trub with CIP? Do you still have to dump the trub manually before recirculating the cleaner? I also find I need to...

Mash pH took an hour to equalize

Brewed an american wheat today. I've been taking pH samples throughout the mash and it seems odd. My grain bill is 5lb 10oz german pilsner, 5lb 10oz light wheat and 1lb 4oz carahell. 8.53 gallons strike volume full mash BIAB using 100% RO water with 2ppm TDS (tap water pH is 5, I know it is...

Moving barb on Taprite secondary reg

Thanks everyone. I was able to switch the two pretty easily.

Moving barb on Taprite secondary reg

I bought a two body Taprite secondary reg set up. The plug nut is on the left side and the barb for CO2 in is on the right. Are these one directional or can I move the bar to the left and plug the right?

    Homemade PBW Recipe

From bplipschitz original post, metasilicate is only needed if cleaning aluminum. From the very first post in this thread, TSP/90 is used for the sodium metasilicate. So I'm not sure I'd need that since I have all SS. Bplipschitz recommended 70:30 carbonate:percarbonate I believe.

    Homemade PBW Recipe

70:30 by weight? And when you say add a squirt, I assume you mean add it at cleaning time and not when making up a big batch. Is there anything special I should be looking for when buying sodium carbonate and percarbonate? Just the pure stuff on Amazon is ok? Does your company sell to the...

    Homemade PBW Recipe

Do you think PBW is worth 400% more? I lost my homemade PBW during my move and need to get more. I loved having a ton of "PBW" and not worry about using too much. I found it cleaned really well.

    Water profile using RO

Really good. I actually do remember this beer. Looking back now, not sure the water change would have done anything but the recipe itself is good.

    I made brewing directions!

I'm very confused by this. Are you trying to say "Not all beers are ales"? Yeast definitely should be close to wort temp when pitching. Pitching yeast directly from the fridge will shock the cells. It even tells you to warm the yeast up right on the packaging on all yeast.

    Refractometer calibration...

Always best to use distilled. You want the ion content to be close to 0 as possible. Tap water is fine if your water is low in TDS. If you have some bad water, you shouldn't use it.

    Obnoxious Football Trash Talk Thread

Been gone for a long time. Nothing has changed. Pats win again and Hoppy is still spewing nonsense

    Brew-Boss Opinions

I just don't think people are posting videos. I don't find this to be a negative or positive. There aren't many videos for High Gravity either. I wouldn't use the amount of videos as a way to determine which system you go with.

    Brew-Boss Opinions

I have one of the original units. I bought just the unit and pieced together everything else myself. I wanted a custom built Spike kettle. My answers will be regarding just the controller and app. Very well built. Easy to use. Can be as hands on or hands off as you would like. Only one...
