    Propane tank ????

Buy a second tank. I ran out once in the middle of the brew and went to buy a spare the next day. Saves me a lot of head aches on brew day

    fermenting a wheat

I got a blonde that I started the first weekend in December and left it in my fermenting chamber at 63 for 10 days then took it out for 2 weeks while I was on vacation. Came home after Christmas and sanitized bottles expecting to bottle only to open a bucket with krausen on top. Needless to say...

    India Brown Ale recipe formulation

Ok I might just replace the bittering hops at 60 and 35 minutes with warrior and then dry hop with cascade or maybe replace all warrior with columbus. Any opinions on which would turn out better. I wanted to use the amarillo, but I have an amarillo pale ale that I've made a few times that I want...

    India Brown Ale recipe formulation

Well a few months ago I made Midwest's India Brown ale kit and really liked it. Fast forward to now and I've decided to finally make my first recipe with this in mind. So far this is what I have decided on, but I am still open on the hops. I have 4 oz of the following, warrior (13.7 AAU)...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

As I suspected I over reacted. The brew room now stinks and the airlock is bubbling away. I might bottles the first 2.5 gallons that have been fermenting for 5 months.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

EdWort, any insight on if the picture I posted looks ok to you? I'm most likely over reacting, but to hear that I'm not going crazy would be good.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

About what I was thinking I was more concerned about the stuff at the top. It didn't look similar to what I've seen before at the top of the juice, usually it is just a bunch of bubbles nothing like what I am seeing now. I have a feeling that is what is gonna happen to my first 2.5 gal...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Ok I need some help with this. I just started fermenting my third batch last night. Same everything as the last few times. I woke up this morning expecting to smell rhino farts and sadly there was nothing. I let it go all day and went to buy another packet of yeast just in case. Well I check on...

Best practices for washing bottles... how do you do it?

Yes just make sure you put them in with no soap.

Best practices for washing bottles... how do you do it?

Exactly what I do. If the bottles have labels I soak in oxy clean over night and rinse. Whatever you do, do not use soap in the dish washer it will kill the head of the beer.

    Dry hopping in primary?

I've done both primary and secondary. When I put the pellets in the secondary and racked on top of them they never settled out. When I put them in the primary I put them in a muslin bag and the bag let out enough of them I still had to put a strainer over the autosiphon like the first time...

    Bottling early?

Listen to Revvy. It is not the 100% bible of what will happen. Try on a batch putting bottle in the fridge every few days and taste/see the difference. I had an oatmeal stout that I bottled a few months ago, after 3 weeks still not much carbonation and it wasn't tasting like most stouts I enjoy...

    South Florida Hop Growing

You sir have given me faith that I can grow down here. I really want to, but I don't know how long I am going to be living at this house. Once I move to a more permanent house I will try growing. I might try getting my dad who has the green thumb in the family (and also a homebrewer) to try...

Pretty good deal on 4 Corny's

I got one up on that. 4 pin locks and a 20 lb co2 tank for $100 from a guy on craigslist :rockin: It only took 2 months of waiting though, so not for the impatient.

Do full boils make that much of a difference over partial boils?

Color of the beer is one big advantage. Also I've noticed a little better head retention with full boils, or so I think. The flavors taste a little crisper, but then again I have no way to measure this just my opinion.
